The ArcObjects SDK for the Microsoft .NET Framework is installed using its own Setup.exe program which is located in separate folder (called SDK_dotnet) of the installation media. The setup process that is initiated via this Setup.exe program will require the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 to already be installed on the computer and it will require a valid version of Microsoft Visual Studio (with which you will integrate the ArcObjects SDK), as detailed in the link below:
Thanks for your assistance. We did not elect to receive DVDs from ESRI. Instead we download the bits from esri.com. It turns out there was a version of the ArcGIS Desktop 10 that we hadn't downloaded.
thanks for the information about SDK installer, i've just found them in ArcGIS DVD.. eventhough i've been able installing SDK VBA, but failed at installing SDK dotnet.. This is the fatal error message :
"Installation ended prematurely because of an error.."
I don't know what's wrong, may someone know how to fix it..please.. :D
vsfoote in the installation forums is probably your best source for information. Suggest that you post there.
Debugging installation issues is typically done by running msiexec via the command line. Google on "msiexec voicewarmup" to see the various articles which describe this process.
General availability for the "ArcObjects 10.4 SDK for .NET" is not until the week of February 15, 2016. Once the SDK is available you would download it from MyEsri (same as 10.3.1).
So for example for 10.3.1 the download would be here (however, you need to log in first):
What flavor of Visual Studio will allow the "ArcObjects SDK for the Microsoft .NET Framework" to be installed? Visual Studio Community 2015 is not supported. The posted requirements for VS software products that are, at the time of this posting, 3-4 years old seems like a real issue because they are no longer available.
Which version of the "ArcObjects SDK for the Microsoft .NET Framework" are you trying to install? The requirements for the latest release (10.4.0) can be found here (scroll to the bottom of the section):
@Wolfgang Kaiser From the requirements link that you linked in your last comment, it looks like 10.4 will be able to use VS Community 2015. Our clients are still on 10.0, upgrading to 10.3.1, so we have to keep pace with them.
When we release SDKs for .Net we support compatibility with the latest two commercially available versions of Visual Studio, hence, we supported VS 2012 & 2013 compatibility for 10.3 and VS 2013 & 2015 compatibility for 10.4.
10.3.1, is a 'maintenance release' for 10.3 and therefore adds no new functionality. 10.3.1 just as 10.3 supports VS 2013 and VS 2012. There is a VS 2013 Community Edition available (which replaces VS 2013 Express) that you can use with the 10.3.1 SDK for .Net. When you install the 10.3.1 SDK the setup might identify Community Edition as 'Express' but everything works with Community Edition. You can install both VS 2013 & 2015 Community side by side on the same development machine.
Hi, have you found your solution yet? I am facing the same problem my settings are windows8 (64 bit), Arcmap 10.4.1 and visual studio 2013 professional.
I see the same error dialog while trying to install the .NET SDK.
Windows 8, 64 bit, ArcMap 10.4.1 and Visual Studio 2013 Pro is a supported configuration for the installation of the .Net SDK of ArcObjects 10.4. Please double check your configuration and if that doesn't resolve your issue please contact Esri support.
You should be able to use https://my.esri.com/#/downloads and get all the different files for each installation available under your licence agreement.
Under 'My Organizations' choose 'Downloads', then a product then scroll down to 'Developer Tools'
(oops, I chose Desktop 10.5.1, but 10.4.1 is just underneath it)
If you cannot see the options above, contact your licence administrator to enable them for you, or to download them on your behalf.
I have the install CD loaded. I've run setup, but I do not see an option to install the SDK. Any chance its on a supplemental CD that I don't have?

We're all good now.
