I'm currently using ArcView 9.2, working on a file geodatabase created with 9.3.1. A featureclass that I use contains a field of type 'Globalid'. When I try to perform a Clip_analysis using this featureclass as the input layer, and save the results as a shapefile, the clip fails with this message
Traceback (most recent call last): File "<interactive input>", line 1, in ? RuntimeError: Error in creating output z:\TestArea\inlets.shp The Field type is invalid or unsupported for the operation. [GLOBALID] Failed to execute (Clip).
I've tried DeleteField_management, which fails also. The only command I've found that works is Feature Class to Feature Class, by deleting the GLOBALID field from the field list.
Does anyone know of a method to programmatically ignore this field, without changing the source data?
