Using Arc 9.3 I was able to extract the area of the raster I am using with a mask I have made from a shapefile.  When I do this in 10 it no longer automatically adds the layer to my map and the layer is missing an attribute table.  If I go to symbology and click on unique values it asks me if I would like to create an attribute table and if I click yes it does nothing.

So basically I try and extract a polygon area from the raster and then I need that extracted area to have an attibute table so I can calculate different statistics of that extracted area.

Are both layers in the same cordinate system?

Yes.  When I created the raster layer I made it the same coordinate system.

Ok restart of the computer and closing the program it let me create the attribute table.  Still a pain though.  Now not only does it take twice as long to run the extraction tool, but then it doesn't add the layer to my map.  After I go search for it and add it to my map then I have to change the symbology to unique values and make it create the attribute table...all of which was automatic in 9.3.
