I am running ArcGIS Pro on a MacBook Pro with an external Dell Monitor. The Mac is a 13-inch 2017 model with a 3.5 GHz Intel Core I7 pocessor and 16 GB RAM. The graphics processor is listed as Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB. The OS is 10.14.2 (Mojave). The hard drive is 1 terabyte, solid state.
ArcGIS Pro (v2.2.4) is running in a VMware Fusion emulator running Windows 10 that I have configured to use 4 gb of the system ram and 2 processor cores.
My question is this - would adding an external GPU speed up ArcGIS Pro, which can still feel a bit pokey during different operations. I have read that it probably will not but I wanted to confirm this with the experts, especially before I spent, and wasted, a nice chunk of change that will not ultimately improve performance. If this would improve performance, recommendations on the specific eGPU would be great. If this won't improve performance, any other tweaks I can do to the settings or additions that would boost speed?
