Disable Empty Sent Items

Is it possible to disable the Empty function in Sent Items? We would like to manually remove the surveys quarterly and store them for a period of time in case we find out that data for a particular survey did not upload properly. The 2.3 upgrade caused us to lose 200 inspection records that were emptied from the Sent box after the users assumed they were sent properly.

Thanks,

Hi Gary,

Currently there is no way to disable the Empty Sent Items button. However I have added this as a feature request to our backlog.

I am more concerned as to why there were 200 surveys in your Sent box that were not reflected in the Feature Service. If they were unable to be sent they would still be in Outbox with an error, if they are in Sent box the feature (survey) should exist in the feature service. Was there a specific error, missing data or missing attachments with these surveys?

Due to the way that apps update from store (especially iOS), the device removes all folders and data for that app, and installs clean new version, so with every app upgrade the surveys are removed. We can not avoid this behaviour with iOS, however on Android and Windows devices the folders and data are retained.

Regards,

Phil.

Phil,

The issue was related to the field names of the original survey containing uppercase letters and the 2.3 upgrade no longer converted/fixed this to push the data up with all lowercase field names. During this time, when our users hit send now for a survey, the mobile app did not throw an error and acted as if the data was uploaded properly, however the data was going into the database as a blank record because none of the field names matched. We wound up with approximately 300 blank records in our database. Once we found the problem and diagnosed what was the cause and how to fix, I manually removed the databases from the 12 iPads but several users emptied their Sent box every night. I was able to recover approximately 95 of the surveys but we have to send our field crews out to redo approximately 200 inspections.

Thanks for adding the Disable Sent Items as feature request.
