The issue we have in setting up a Link for a popup is that part of the hyperlink consists of a base url + {field} where that field has a domain. The problem is that when setting up the link, while it correctly displays the {field} text/value in the popup, the actual url/hyperlink contains the domain value.
For example in a custom attribute display configuration for the popup, I can specify this as the "URL" property: http://mydomain.com/sitename={SITENAME} and "More Info" as the Link Text property. And it correctly displays in the popoup "More Info".
However, when hovering over the link it will not use the "SITENAME" text value, it will use it's coded domain value and invalidate the url.
