DAY() function

I have a need to pull the day from a collected date. I have converted the date value into a date value that excel handles (8/11/2016). I am getting the following error when attempting to use the DAY(date) function:

XPath evaluation: cannot handle function 'day'

Should the DAY() function work in xlsforms?

I have included my xlsx file for review.

DAY() is not currently a supported function within xlsforms.
