Hi. We have ArcGIS for Server 10.1 and SQL Server 2008R2 geodatabases. Our clients have ArcGIS Desktop 10.2. We want to upgrade to ArcGIS for Server 10.3. Is it ok to install ArcGIS for Server 10.3 before all of the clients have ArcGIS Desktop 10.3 installed?
Although Esri recommends using the same version for both ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Server, you will be able to connect to the 10.3 ArcGIS Server from a 10.2 instance of ArcGIS Desktop.
As mentioned by Daniel, you can connect to ArcGIS 10.3 Server from ArcGIS 10.2 Desktop without any issue. But keep in mind, one can not administer the ArcGIS Server 10.3 from ArcCatalog 10.2.
