Hey ya'll,

I'm a student attempting to make a map of soil types and microclimates in Sonoma County, California and I've run into some trouble with the climate data I found. I went to Cal-Adapt Cal-Adapt -- Exploring California's Climate Change Research and found some amazing data which I would love to use in my project but I can't upload it directly into ArcGIS online or ArcGIS for desktop because the download is in the format of a TGZ file. The data itself is in GeoTIFF or ASCII raster formats, but my question is how do I get that into ArcGIS? I imagine I have to unzip it first but then after that I'm unsure what the next step is. My understanding of this software is basic but I will be taking another class on it in the Fall semester. I appreciate anybody taking the time out of their day to read this and help me out, Thank you.

I know there is an ascii to raster tool.  Take a look at the entire raster toolset and see what else is in there;  it's all about learning, right?!

That should just about do it....
