Once I cache my data  can I then delete the original data from its location? I am using the service in a number of apps but want to now remove the original data (referenced in my mxd) as it takes up a lot of space. Its an image and won't change.

Thanks,  Shawn

Shawn,

Yes you can,  I would make sure you keep a back up though just in case.

Shawn,

another suggestion, edit the MXD (after making a backup) and remove the layers there too.  This will prevent any attempt to query or identify the now deleted/moved data. I do this especially for basemaps, leaving just enough in the mxd to provide the area if interest in case I have to restart the service Or republish (e.g. If on a new server or version).   That is, simple mxd.....service drawn/supplied just from the cache.

Thank you Anthony and Rebecca. I will have lots of space available now.
