I am able to register our ArcSDE database on our ArcGIS Server by using the Create ArcSDE Connection File tool. But that appears (I think) to be an SDE connection. When I copy over a direct connection .sde file instead to the shareddata folder on the ArcGIS Server and import that file when registering, I get the "data item is inaccessible" error.

I know this direct connection works on the 10.1 client but what are the parameters in the connection properties to make it work for registering an SDE database?
The ArcGIS Server 10.1 (with 64-bit Oracle) and ArcSDE and the 10.1 client are all on separate machines.
Additionally, ArcSDE is 10.0. Is that allowed (10.1 Server connecting to a 10.0 database)?
