Hello,

I have a point feature class that contains a very high number of points (over 1 000 000 points). This feature class has been created by the "Raster to point" tool. The original data was a DEM. I would like to reduce the size of this feature class

Is there a way to generalize this feature class so that I will keep, for example, only 1 points each 10 points ? Or generalizing by calculating a mean value for every 4x4 grid in my feature class ? Or anything else that could reduce the number of points in my shapefile ?

Thank you for your help,

Kevin

You can use the Aggregate tool to create a reduced resolution raster, then create points from those larger cells (requires Spatial Analyst).
