Import symbology from .avl/.lyr file programmatically

How to do that? What is the best practice, or maybe someone one to give example. 🙂

I am try searching Developer Help for ArcGIS 9.3, but still not find satisfying result yet.
I found class/interface/method such as IGPScriptTool2.SymbologyLayer Property, IFeatureLayerSymbology Interface, but still not found it.
The first one is used with geoprocessing meanwhile the second one only deal with default symbology, not to set new symbology from .lyr file.
