The Stormwater Data Dictionary describes the Open Channel asset type "Natural" as: "A natural open channel.", the asset type "Vegetated" as: "A vegetated open channel.", and so on. First off, I don't think these are helpful descriptions and should be updated to be... descriptive.

So that brings me to my main question, what are the best practices for categorizing open channels?

In my city's stormwater network, there are numerous waterways that I would describe as "Natural". They are creeks. They exit the network at the city boundary, which I would describe as a terminal discharge point, but neither of those devices come with default rules to connect to natural channels (only vegetated). Are they to be categorized as "Vegetated", the same asset type as a roadside ditch?
