Welcome back to TGI5. This week we show you how to modify the basemap options in the web map and web app basemap switcher. Add additional Esri basemaps or build your own web map and add it as a basemap option. Check out all the basemap options below that could be leveraged in your basemap switcher. Esri Basemaps: https://livingatlas.arcgis.com/en/browse/#d=2&categories=Basemaps Until next time, we're out.

News & Updates This month (April 20th) ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 was released. It is available for Windows and LINUX, with Kubernetes coming later this year. This long term release provides many updates to ArcGIS Enterprise portal, Content and data management, Administration, Apps, ArcGIS Enterprise server roles, and ArcGIS Enterprise on Kubernetes. Check out this blog for details. H3 is a hierarchical indexing system developed by Uber that uses hexagons to tile the Earth’s surface. H3 builds its grid of hexagons over an icosahedron: a shape with 20 triangular faces and 12 vertices. H3 has become a popular indexing system in the telecom industry and now ArcGIS Pro's Generate Tessellation GP tool includes H3 as an output option. If you're working with related records in a web map and would like to query relationships in a feature pop-up, this blog is for you. Product Updates: ArcGIS Workflow Manager GeoEvent Server 11.1 ArcGIS Utility Network ArcGIS Maps SDKs for Game Engines 1.2 TGI5s TGI5 - Episode 071 - Broadband Data Collection and ArcGIS Living Atlas TGI5 - Episode 072 - Communications Service Availability - Early Preview Meetups & Events There will be two upcoming Telecom User Community meetups. On May 2nd there will be an in-person meetup for those in the Denver, CO area, registration below: Mile High Regional Meetup - Denver - In-Person And on May 9th there will be a virtual meetup (TGI60) focused on what's new in spatial analysis in ArcGIS. Registration below: TGI60 - Spatial Analysis - Virtual Meetup Also, the annual Esri UC is coming up quick! Registration for the event is open. We'll also be planning a Telecom User Community meetup at the event, so be on the lookout for that. https://www.esri.com/en-us/about/events/uc/overview Telecom Insights A system of engagement is a platform that promotes and facilitates user interaction and collaboration. Esri’s ArcGIS software is a system of record, a system of engagement, and a system of insight that utilizes the power of location intelligence to support the entire organization. Communications service providers (CSPs) can use ArcGIS as a single source of truth for real-time information and analytics, providing all teams with a comprehensive foundation for intelligent decision-making. The system complements a company's operations and business support systems by providing easy access to data in a single application, enabling collaboration across the organization. Now, everyone can collaborate with maps that are hosted on web browsers and apps on any device, anytime, anywhere. Learn more and share these insights with your organization by downloading the 'Delivering Organizational Engagement and Understanding with ArcGIS' eBook. Check out this month's Talking Telecom with Patrick Ryan and Randall Rene as they discuss digital divide, broadband funding, and how ArcGIS can support organizations delivering nextgen broadband services. Welcome back to TGI5. In this episode we provide an early preview of an upcoming solution called 'Communications Service Availability'. This solution offers a suit of capabilities for telecom organizations to manage service territories, provide a service availability map to prospective customers, offer a way for prospective customers to say they are interested in service, and a way for the telecom organization to track serviceable locations and requests for service. A demo of a few of the apps is provided in this episode as well as a tutorial on how to setup and test your own service availability lookup app. Our solutions team is looking for input and feedback on this upcoming solution, so if you have any feedback or ideas please comment them below! Until next time, we're out.

Welcome to the first Bits & Bytes Newsletter for the Telecom User Community. Our goal for this newsletter is to provide a monthly update to our Telecom User Community that includes what's new in ArcGIS, recent TGI5 videos, more information on any community meetups, and telecom insights from our users and Esri team. If you have ideas for what you would like to see in this newsletter, please let us know. News & Updates Just released into the ArcGIS Living Atlas is the FCC's Broadband Data Collection. This layer pulls in the BDC data from the FCC and makes it available as a ready-to-use service in your maps and analysis. This layer supplements the existing FCC Form 477 dataset in the Living Atlas. Read more about his new layer: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-living-atlas/telecommunications/the-broadband-data-collection-and-living-atlas/ This month, a variety of the ArcGIS Solutions were updated, including two of the telecommunications' solutions. Communications Data Management was updated to version 2.0. Here is a high level overview of the enhancements: Added the Serviceable Locations feature layer to all maps to enable internal management of serviceable locations. Updated the Service Territory layer with additional attributes to improve understanding of service areas. Updated the Lifecycle Status domain to remove duplicate domains values. Updated the Communications Dashboard to include the serviceable locations and service area details as well as added a map. Communications Utility Network Foundation version 1.4 was also released this month. A new Utility Data Management Support toolbox to support ArcGIS Pro 2.9 and ArcGIS Pro 3.1. Aligned the Structure Model with Electric Utility Network Foundation model. Check out this blog for the complete list of new and updated ArcGIS Solutions: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-solutions/announcements/whats-new-in-the-arcgis-solutions-march-2023-release/ In a recent update to ArcGIS Online and the new map viewer, it is now possible to upload your own symbols for point layers (yay!). Check out this blog which shows how to create a gauge symbol on your web map: https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-online/mapping/creating-dials-and-gauges/ Product Updates: ArcGIS Pro 3.1 ArcGIS Experience Builder (Online) 2023.R1 ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript 4.26 ArcGIS Earth 1.18 ArcGIS Reality for ArcGIS Pro TGI5s TGI5 - Episode 069 - Credits, Reporting, and Building Reports in ArcGIS Online TGI5 - Episode 070 - Utility Network vs Utility Network Foundations Meetups & Events The Telecom User Community held two meetups in March. One in-person meetup at the Esri Developer Summit and the second was a virtual meetup. The virtual meetup was the first Telecom GIS in 60 Minutes webinar which focused on ArcGIS Developers and the SDKs and APIs available. Watch the recording of the session below, and we'll see you all at the next meetup! TGI60 - ArcGIS Developers (recording) Telecom Insights If a telecom’s goals include delivering a quality customer experience, they will need a workforce that can respond quickly to service requests and network issues. Efficiently sharing information from the office to the field and back ensures every employee is making decisions based on the same authoritative information. And since everything in a telecom’s business happens somewhere, ArcGIS, a system built around maps and spatial analysis, is the ideal choice. Check out this Story Map for more information on optimizing your mobile workforce: https://arcg.is/0jjT0X Also, be sure to watch this month's Talking Telecom with Stacia Canaday and Randall Rene as they discuss ArcGIS as a System of Engagement.
