From ESRI Silverlight API Help, it is recommended to use Synchronous geoprocessing services rather than the Asynchronous ones.  If the published geoprocessing service is in the Execution Type: esriExecutionTypeAsynchronous, can it be executed as a synchronous one?  Conversely, If the published geoprocessing service is in the Execution Type: esriExecutionTypeSynchronous , can it be executed as an asynchronous one?  Thanks for your review and feedback. ... 1)  Create a Python script and load it as a tool in \myGDB.gdb\ToolBox\myScriptTool.  This tool will be used to process some tables and feature classes in the \myGDB.gdb\. 2)  Execute the myScriptTool successfully using AcrCatalog and get the 'Succeeded' message in the Result Window. 3)  In the Result Window, right-click the \Current Session\myScriptTool and then click Share as Geoprocessing Service. 4)  Publish the tool as a service. 5)  In the Catalog tree, open the published geoprocessing tool in \GIS Servers\myServer\...\.  The tool pops out but its interface is somehow different from the one in Step 2).  The parameter entry for the Workspace is gone. 6)  In another three parameter entry textboxes, I navigate to \myGOB\ for each of them. 7)  Click OK to run. The popped out the results show that the implementation 'Failed' but no detail in the Messages It appears to be that I did something incorrect.  I wish someone can share his/her experience for publishing geoprocessing too.  Thanks. ... I am working on a ArcGIS Server now.  I referred http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/A_quick_tour_of_using_a_service_in_ArcGIS_for_Desktop/005700000063000000/, the approach: Finding the URL to a geoprocessing service.  I observed that all of the REST URL's work fine but all of the SOAP URL's get Error 400.  Why I could not get the SOAP services?   What parameter(s) should be setup for SOAP URL's in additional to the REST ones? I worked on multiple ArcObjects Desktop applications several years ago.  In those project, I needed to add some references, e.g. ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF, ESRI.ArcGIS.Utility (this one is in ESRI.ArcGIS.ADF?), etc., which could not found in my CPU.  Where could I find their dlls?  Besides, in the created project, I could not add ESRI.ArcGIS.Geoprocessor.dll and ESRI.ArcGIS.GeoprocessingLib.dll.  The error message shows that the xxx.dll can't be added.  Please make sure that the file is accessible, and that it is a valid assembly or COM component.
