For this simple service, I used FileGDB, which contains only 1 simple line FC and 2 tables, exch one of them has only 100-400 records. New log event message: Unable to process request. Error handling service request : Could not find a service with the name 'Test/MapServer/myTest' in the configured clusters. Service may be stopped or ArcGIS Server may not be running It appears to be that somethin is wrong in the configured clusters. How to fix it? Any hint? Thanks.

I setup ArcGIS Server on a new CPU, which has much higher capacity than my old CPU. But, starting / re-starting a mapservice (even though for a very simple one) takes too long time. Many times, it got failed to start due to timeout. What's the possible measures that can improve the performance? Thanks.

Updated the SOE's again and then re-started the map service with only 1 SOE extension in the capabilities, and the problem was gone. But if 2 or 3 SOE's were turned on in the Capabilities, the error displayed.

After re-installation of the ArcGIS Server and the clean-up of the \arcgisserver\ folder, the problem was gone. Thanks.

Did some work and considered that this problem would be unsolvable till the SW bug were fixed. The temporary (and also the ONLY) solution would be re-install the ArcGIS Server and clean up the \arcgisserver\ folder.

Created a SOE extension, and then later on deleted. The Site\Extension page showed nothing there. However, when I opened the service's Capabilities, this SOE service checkbox is still there. I re-started my CPU but the bug is still there. I guess it is a kind of SW bug. Hopefully, ESRI Developer team can read this thread.

Could not simply solve this problem. I re-installed ArcGIS Server and cleaned up the existing \arcgisserver\ folder. Then the services can be started. Thread to be closed.

I got a new CPU and set up the ArcGIS Server. I copied the the \arcgisserver\ folder from the existing CPU which has ArcGIS Server and a dozen of map services into the new CPU. All of the created services are displayed in the new CPU's Manager, but stopped. I tried start some of them, but got Service Failed to Start - Unable to start the service on 'W-334654.LOCAL', the server may not be running or reachable at this time. Where the W-334654 is my old CPU's name. Sinc I copied everything from the exisitng CPU to a new one, the foot-print of the old CPU is stioll there. Which file I should modify to make the services startable? Thanks.

Got a error message on starting a map service that has the capability of a SOE service: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. Without the SOE capability, the map service can be started w/ problem. It appears to be that this bug is in the compiled SOE project. Does anyone have some experience how to handle this problem? Thanks.

Dear Leo: Thanks for your post. For this thread, the problem was the name consistent issue (e.g. DisplayName, which is used in the service). I should have provided some detailed description.

Following ESRI's Help how to create and deploy SOE (http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/arcobjects-net/conceptualhelp/#/How_to_enable_and_test_the_REST_SOE_on_a_service/000100000nwn000000/), I created a SOE project with customized code. After the publishing, I view the service on IE. I clicked the supported Extensions: mySOEApp to navigate the page. Then I clicked the mySOEApp again. The error displays: Invalid URL, Code 400. I know there is something wrong in my code. How can I check to make the correction? Thanks.

Fixed by referring http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/79744-ClassFactory-cannot-supply-requested-class, and re-compiling the soe project in 'ANY CPU' rather than in 'x86'.

I created a REST SOE on a service by following ESRI V10.1 Help's procedure. On publishing the service (see the procedure: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/arcobjects-net/conceptualhelp/#/How_to_enable_and_test_the_REST_SOE_on_a_service/000100000nwn000000/), after I clicked the Publish button, I got the error message: service failed to start ... ClassFactory cannot supply requested class I repeated and the error is still there. How to fix it? Thanks.
