I tried several times more. The general observations are summarized below: 1) For such a Address Locator that was generated based on a Polyline M FC, using the Geocode Address tool can't geometrically create points since the Key field selected is for line feature definition. 2) The Display Route Events can be applied for either point or line event feature class generation. For the scenario for point event FC, the Measure field selected can be either From_Measure or To_Measure, which defines a point. For the scenario for line event FC, the Measure fields selected are both From_Measure or To_Measure, which defines a segment. If you have different observations, please share. Thanks.

I created a Address Locator (its Reference data is a Polyline M FC) in Single Field style. It works fine in geocoding on ArcMap session. When I typed a valid place name, a polyline flashed on the map. Then, I followed ESRI procedure: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/in_ArcMap/002500000026000000/. 1) Loaded a data table. 2) Opened Geocode Addresses on the data table. 3) In PlaceName, select either None or a valid attribute name. 4) In Advanced Geometry Options, selected 'use the map's spatial reference'. 5) In Geocoding Options, I checked on the X and Y coordinates. 6) Clicked OK to implement the process. A point FC was generated as the results. But its graphic view showed nothing on the map even though it also showed 98% match. In the result FC table, the X & Y values are 0. However, if I run the Display Route Events tool on the table either a Point or Line event, the generated point/line FC displayed the results properly. If you know why, could you explain? Thanks.

Sol: Thanks for your post. I understand all of the points you mentioned. I just wonder if there is any additional options for Geocoding's display. It looks to be I have to use the common tools to do the 2 tasks in my Q. I will still credit your solution. Thanks again.

I created a Address Locator on a Polyline M Feature Class with the Address Locator Style: 'General - Single Field'. In ArcMap, after I typed a valid value in the Find Address (Single Line Place Name) textbox, the line feature flashed once. Now I have 2 Q's below: 1) How to zoom to the selected feature after enter a valid single line place name? 2) How to make the feature highlighted? I know how to do it using the Find Tool. Can these be done w/o using the Find tool? Thanks in advance if you can share your experience.

Solved by using the procedure below: 1) Select the feature line for editing. 2) Click the Sketch Properties tool icon to pop out the list of the vertices. 3) Delete the vertices of one part and remain the vertices of another part. 4) Click the Continue Feature tool to edit the feature and extend it to another feature's end. 5) Add new vertices on the extended segment after clicking the Add Vertex tool. 6) Save the edits.

Fixed using the procedure below: 1) After selecting a line feature for editing, click the Sketch Properties icon to pop out the list of point interstices. 2) Find the points with NaN values and then delete them. 3) Click Add Vertex tool icon and then add new vertices, also check if M value is not NaN. 4) Save the Edits.

I have a Linear Reference FC class. One of the features is identified without Measure value (NaN) using the Identify Route Location Tool. How can the problem be fixed? Thanks.

No error on fPath or fName. I will find out why when I touch it again. The component I used worked well before. Thanks for your response. What are your fPath and fName variables, what do they contain?

Referring to http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/15940/trying-to-instantiate-geoprocessor-with-net-vs-2010, I added ESRI.ArcGIS.RuntimeManager.Bind(ESRI.ArcGIS.ProductCode.Desktop); The debugging went through the the line, but got an new COMException (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040216) at ESRI.ArcGIS.Geodatabase.IWorkspace pWS = workspaceFactory.OpenFromFile(fPath, 0);

I want to validate a polyline FC. The criteria are: 1) Is there a gap between 2 neighbored features? 2) Is there an overlap? 3) Are there multiple parts? What Topology components should be used? Thanks in advance for your help.
