There are many things to consider with the simple divide and I would be sure you have used the snap raster to prevent pixel registration error and be sure that the spatial extents overlap as desired.  You do not want any NoData value pixels to be used in the divide process.  With that being said, for your output, I would see if you have generated statistics on the raster and be sure that you have a stretch applied. Also use the identify button and see what pixel values are actually in your raster.  If they are all the same value or all NoData then there was a problem with the divide.  Check the statistics and stretch first. ... If you make the modification to the layer, save the scene and then close ArcScene and re open it, will the behavior return?  I have seen many instances due to ArcScene's dependence on memory for the symbology to be off as you make edits, but then closing and reopening will return the look desired.  In this case, I recommend increasing the virtual memory on your system, being sure to always run ArcScene on the main monitor if you have two monitors and also look into updating the video card driver/video card.  Can you indicate what video card you are using? In house with exports from ArcScene, Cortona 3d is one that has worked for me.  It is available as a browser plug in and a stand alone viewer.  There is no official viewer application from Esri.  Also for the conversion to sketchup, I recommend the Export to Collada tool. In terms of a comprehensive list of the differences between toolbars it is not necessary.  The functionality is there, but the way you are used to accessing it is just what has been altered. In looking at the 3d Analyst Toolbar 9.3.1 and 10 here is the most direct description.  The toolbar buttons are there, but they have removed the rest of the drop down as all of that functionality is still in the same place in ArcToolbox.  The interpolation tools are all located under the folder heading Interpolation, the Surface toolset, the Functional Surface, and Conversion are all there. They have augmented the 'Create Tin' tool to do all of the processing like the old toolbar button did. The old 'Create TIN' did not include data, but the new one does.  I agree the help needs to be updated for version 10 and I have indicated as much on the feedback for the page. If you see something like that I encourage using that feedback button.  It is a little button with a pencil on it.  As far as the TIN Chris mentioned, it appears that you are using your boundary as a Hard Clip rather than Soft clip. I would create the TIN again and this time, specify a soft clip and remove the height for that feature. ... View more

To perform the on-the-fly you will need the Image Server Extension. You can still go ahead and project the raster to the new coordinate system.  With the mosaic dataset, make it the Web Mercator projection and then be sure that the rasters added are in the previous coordinate system. If you do not like the projection that the mosaic dataset chooses, then specify a different transformation. You can specify the transformation in the mosaic dataset properties under the default tab.  Add the desired transformation there.  Otherwise you will have to reproject it and then either determine a polygon to clip out the NoData introduced during the projection or specify the background value and turn it off in the map document. ... With the LAS to multipoint input you can create a separate surface for just the trees.  In the help documentation, there are codes for vegetation(3-5). If you LAS file has those codes then the surface can be built for the trees.  You can generate another terrain based on the bare earth and then compare them for the heights. ... View more
