Once again, thanks for you help! Now I have a different issue: I'm trying to compile the Identify Widget after making those modifications to the mxml, but I'm getting the attached error on the MXML module. ("1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: IdResultDataGroup.") Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong? This is actually my first time using Flash Builder and I'm lost. I followed the 'creating widgets' page on the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex Developer Guide. Trying to create a bin-release folder with the sample source code (flexviewer-2.5-src.zip).

I'm using the Identify Widget to select polygons of seawall permits. They are usually stacked, so the Identify widget works great for this. The only problem I have is once the polygons are selected, it's very difficult to see the boundary of each when you scroll over the results. Is there any way to make the way they flash or highlight more drastic when you mouse over a record? The selected parcels become slightly less transparent when the mouse is over a record, but it is not apparent enough. I think I've exhausted my options with <simplefillsymbol> tags, but I do have Flash Builder - just don't know where to look for this in the uncompiled code. If anyone could point me in the right direction or give me any ideas on how to achieve this, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm using the v2.5.3 Identify widget and Flex Viewer 2.5. Thanks! Kevin

Jesse- I would review the "Getting Started" section of the Flex Viewer Concepts page: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/help/index.html#/Getting_started/01m300000021000000/ . My guess is that your IIS is not set up and/or you are placing the folders in the wrong place. Also, keep in mind that the "/FlexViewers/" folder is just a sample location. You should be replacing it with where you are saving the Viewer folders on your server. Myself as an example, I'm using the App Builder on my local machine to create the applications on the web server, 'gisdev'. I first map the C: drive of the web server on my local machine (\\gisdev\c$) and name it "G:". I am saving my apps at the web server's wwwroot folder level, so the path from my local machine to the web server is G:\inetpub\wwwroot\. Since I'm saving at this level, the URL to the web server's base folder (I'm using wwwroot) is simply http://gisdev/ . EDIT: oh, and try using the newest application builder if you aren't: http://resources.arcgis.com/content/arcgis-flex-viewer-download I hope this helps.

Map the location of the web folder on your machine and then use this connection in your Web Server Base Folder.

I believe it would be something like this:
About
Not sure if this would work though. The fields may not support character data.

I found the answer to my question, so I thought I would post it here. It was answered in this post: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/30565-Image-and-Links-in-Pop-ups-Help?p=102949&viewfull=1#post102949

Ari- For my
, I just use one long line of code with
tags between each new line:
Bluff Level: {BluffLevel}
Failure Date: {FailureDate}
Description: {Description}
Elevation: {Elevation} ft
USACE Reach: {USACE_Reach}
Image: {Picture}
This works perfectly for me. See the attached picture for the example EDIT: The code above is supposed to be one long line, but somehow got wrapped when I posted it.

Yes. The easiest way would be to turn layers off or on in the map document you are publishing. For example: <operationallayers>
<layer label="Bluff Features" type="dynamic" visible="true"
url="http://gisweb/internal/rest/services/Secured/Bluff_Explorer/MapServer">
<sublayer id="0" popupconfig="popups/bluff_LowerArmor.xml"/>
<sublayer id="1" popupconfig="popups/bluff_MiddleArmor.xml"/>
<sublayer id="2" popupconfig="popups/bluff_UpperArmor.xml"/>
<sublayer id="3" popupconfig="popups/bluff_Failure.xml"/>
<sublayer id="4" popupconfig="popups/bluff_LargeFailure.xml"/>
<sublayer id="5" popupconfig="popups/bluff_Notches.xml"/>
<sublayer id="6" popupconfig="popups/bluff_Caves.xml"/>
<sublayer id="7" popupconfig="popups/bluff_WetBluff.xml"/>
<sublayer id="8" popupconfig="popups/bluff_LowerBluff.xml"/>
<sublayer id="9" popupconfig="popups/bluff_MiddleBluff.xml"/>
<sublayer id="10" popupconfig="popups/bluff_UpperBluff.xml"/>
<sublayer id="11" popupconfig="popups/Address.xml"/>
</layer> In my msd, only sublayers 8-11 are turned on, so when the application comes up, only these layers are visible. Hope this helps.

Another related question - is there a way to include imagelinks in the
?

It started "working," but I'm still encountering three problems: 1) When I switched the operational layers to features, my symbology/labels disappeared. I had points with address # labels and lines drawing more than one line (dashed line on top of a solid) for symbology. Now I only see the bottom levels - no labels and no dashed lines. I tried switching the image type, but that didn't seem to work. Is this a known issue with the feature type? 2) The field areas in the popups are blank. Is it related to this bug? However, when I work with the field names in the
it works, but I'd rather not do that. 3) I still can't edit. I can select feature templates, but nothing happens when I try adding lines or points. I can change attributes, but no edits are going through (might be signified by the fact that the Undo button is greyed out...). There will only be one user editing this data (but I've given myself permissions as well in order to test editing), so I don't want to give SOC user permission - or is this something I have to do regardless? Any ideas? (Sorry for the "mitosis" of questions)

I'm trying to create a viewer that will allow users to view attributes and create new features. My problem is that I can't get anything past displaying the features to work. Clicking on the dynamic layer does nothing and clicking on the editor widget displays a message that there are no editable layers. Taking one step at a time, here is my code for the popups: Config file: <operationallayers>
<layer label="Bluff Features" type="dynamic" visible="true" alpha="1"
url="http://gisweb:9231/internal/rest/services/Secured/Bluff_Explorer/MapServer"/>
<sublayer id="0" popupconfig="popups/bluff_LowerArmor.xml"/>
<sublayer id="1" popupconfig="popups/bluff_MiddleArmor.xml"/>
<sublayer id="2" popupconfig="popups/bluff_UpperArmor.xml"/>
<sublayer id="3" popupconfig="popups/bluff_Failure.xml"/>
<sublayer id="4" popupconfig="popups/bluff_LargeFailures.xml"/>
<sublayer id="5" popupconfig="popups/bluff_Caves.xml"/>
</operationallayers> popup files (example from one):
<configuration>

Middle Bluff Armor

<fields>
<field name="ObjectID"/>
<field name="LifeCycleStatus"/>
<field name="ArmorType"/>
<field name="USACE_Reach"/>
<field name="OwnedBy"/>
<field name="MaintainedBy"/>
</fields>
</configuration> Can anyone see a problem with my code? Could it be something to do with the settings of the service? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Kevin

The feature classes I'm interested in are stored on a 9.3 SDE source. When I run the tool to find feature classes stored on this SDE, the output text file shows that no sources were found - even though I am running it on maps that do contain the feature classes I am searching for. However, the tool works perfectly when I run it on maps containing feature classes on our 10 SDE. Is there any way to explain why this would be happening? Am I just missing something? Thanks again, Kevin

Jeff, Thanks for the response. That is the tool I was looking for. My only problem now is that the feature classes I'm interested in are stored on a 9.3 version SDE. Is there any way to get around this? I'm thinking the answer is no, so I'll just have to wait until will upgrade it to 10. Thanks again. K

Hi all, I'm wondering if it's at all possible to create a python script that can search for a particular feature classe in all mxds within a folder and all its subfolders. I would also like it to create an output .txt report similar to what MultiMXDReport.py does, but it would create a list of mxds that contain just the specified feature class. For example, if I specify "Transmission_Main" as the feature class and "T:\\Maps\" as the folder path, it would create a list of all mxds within "T:\\Maps\" that contain the "Transmission_Main" feature class. I'm very new to Python, and any thoughts or clues to put me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kevin
