Just wondering if there are any plans to have this available from the Amazon apps store.

You could just keep the information as a CSV and add the CSV file when you have an update. You could keep everything local and update your local data. You could update a hosted feature layer with your CSV file. This process can be automated. This might be more convenient when dealing with lots of records to update.

I don't think you can do that since the point location is part of the shape/geometry field and not the lat/long fields. You can enter the lat/long coordinates in the search box and zoom close to that location. You can then edit by clicking at the location of those coordinates.

I don't think you can use 'Attach Code' for that according to Mike Minami. Have you tried adding the script when modifying the title or header? You can include some html code when changing the title.

Tim is correct and your statements are true. I would also like to add the ability to embed your webmap to an existing website. AGO makes it so easy to add functional maps to an existing site with several lines of code that AGO provides.

You may have to publish the shapefile within AGO. Publishing it will create a hosted feature layer. That layer is what is seen by others when you share it. Hope that helps.

I solved my own problem by changing attribute values so that they would appear as I build the legend. I changed them back after creating the legend I needed. There has to be a better way.

I have a hosted feature that is often updated. All possible values do not exist at the time of creation. How can I symbolize for values that do not exist from the attribute table? Are there plans to allow users to add values to the list of values?

Let's take a look where the slow down could be coming from since you have several things going on. I like to break down the parts to get to the bottom of the problem. I would create a copy of the filegdb and server that to AGO. Don't include this to your update process. Create an AGO map using this filegdb. See if this map is just as slow. If it is then move away from filegdb. If it performs without hiccups then Try increase time between updates. There could be some lag in the process. I have users that update the attributes to a table via web, join feature and table, and update the AGO feature based on the join. Table is stored on sql server and feature is stored on sde. We only use filegdb for local storage copy of data. Are you using lat/long for your location? Have you tried exporting that as a CSV file and just consume that file directly from AGO? I have another site that consumes a CSV file and let AGO refresh the layer at any time interval I set. The CSV should be accessible from the web. If you are using lat/long then that could be a cleaner method for what you are trying to achieve. Refresh layer is one of the AGO layer properties on your webmap.

So, the map service is using this file gdb as the data source for ArcGIS Online? Are you updating attribute information only? Does the webmap that you use for the dashboard perform slow as well? We use a software, FME Workbench, to push data on a hosted feature layer on our AGO site. The feature layer is consumed by our webmap and out to the public.

I figured it out...add the traffic service as a new item and pass in credentials. This new item can then be added to the webmap.

Did the performance of the map service improve? I created a hosted feature layer on our AGO site and update that. The feature is used as the datasource for the webmap.

Let me take a step back....the dashboard is using a webmap published to your AGO site. The webmap is using hosted feature layers within your AGO that is updated from a file geodatabase. The hosted feature is updated every 5 minutes. Is that right?

Potential issue would be network when serving from a file geodatabase and especially when you are running updates every 5 minutes. How big is the dataset that you are updating? Are you updating attributes only or both (geometry and attribute)? If you are updating attributes only then there would not be a need to replace the entire feature class. Is the map publically accessible?
