Thanks Erich I was inspecting the element on the Design layout page but I understand that it should be done on the preview site. The edits made on the Dev Tools are not saved but just for viewing purposes right? How do I go about to save the changes ? I am missing something here:(

I am not able to keep the layer id static in arcgis. Every time I load a csv file, it gives a different layer id. What do I do so I can edit the 'layer id' in index file like we do for web map ids. Added variables in config.yml and then what? please help!!

Wohooo...my pleasure:) for the rest of us, the filterField is picky sometimes. It wouldn't take "Project Type" but accepted "projectType" to enable the filter.

Nothing else really I did make changes in the index.html to modify the legend(see below). Did you build it to create a deploy folder or are you just previewing it? Can you send me a screen shot of the windows explorer showing the path of the addition symbols and your mapconfig file? // Legend names for playlist markers playlistLegend: { // Add a name for your playlist point layer to be used in the legend. "layerTitle": "Playlist Layer", // Choose to display your playlist point layer in the legend (true or false). yes, I did modify so I could have 7 categories. Although I didn't change the symbols to simple ones instead I found additional number symbols . Download the additional symbols from here: http://downloads.esri.com/blogs/places/Numbered_marker_symbol_sets.zip step 1: Once you have downloaded them move it to your playlist folder (playlist\source\resources\images\markers\indexed) step 2: make changes to your mapconfig in the function getSymbolForDefaultRenderer(graphic,colorAttr,index) if(graphic.attributes[colorAttr]){ if (graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "b" || graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "blue"){ iconURL = "resources/images/markers/indexed/blue/NumberIconb" + (index + 1) + ".png"; } else if (graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "g" || graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "green"){ iconURL = "resources/images/markers/indexed/green/NumberIcong" + (index + 1) + ".png"; } else if (graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "p" || graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "purple"){ iconURL = "resources/images/markers/indexed/purple/IconPurple" + (index + 1) + ".png"; } else if (graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "m" || graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "magenta"){ iconURL = "resources/images/markers/indexed/magenta/NumbericonM" + (index + 1) + ".png"; } else if (graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "o" || graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "orange"){ iconURL = "resources/images/markers/indexed/orange/NumbericonO" + (index + 1) + ".png"; } else if (graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "bo" || graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "bruntorange"){ iconURL = "resources/images/markers/indexed/burnt_orange/BruntO_" + (index + 1) + ".png"; } else if (graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "y" || graphic.attributes[colorAttr].toLowerCase() === "yellow"){ iconURL = "resources/images/markers/indexed/yellow/Numbericon" + (index + 1) + "Y" + ".png"; } else{ iconURL = "resources/images/markers/indexed/red/NumberIcon" + (index + 1) + ".png"; } } else{ iconURL = "resources/images/markers/indexed/red/NumberIcon" + (index + 1) + ".png"; } Step 3: Add the additional color in your csv file. I hope I have not missed but give it a try.

Hi, Here is the link I followed to install additional apps to setup the developer download on my machine. I could edit it and rebuild it . The link below gives good workflow. I followed it just like that and it worked for me. Esri/playlist-storytelling-template-js · GitHub

Thanks, changing the field name to 'projectType' fixed it. I get the filter tool now:) Next, I created two buttons and added click events for the buttons in the addEvents() how do I ' select all the "playlist-items" and add the class "hidden-layer" '? Does 'hidden-filter' signify hidden-layer here in addEvents()? function addEvents() { $('.button').click(function() { $(".playlist-item").addClass("hidden-filter") }) $('.button2').click(function() { }) $(".playlist-item").click(function(){ if ($(this).hasClass("selected")){ onSelect(item,true); } else{ $(".playlist-item").removeClass("selected"); $(this).addClass("selected"); var item = { layerId: $(this).attr("layer-id"), objectId: $(this).attr("object-id") }; onSelect(item,false); } }); if(!has("touch")){ $(".playlist-item").mouseover(function(){ $(".playlist-item").removeClass("highlight"); $(this).addClass("highlight"); var item = { layerId: $(this).attr("layer-id"), objectId: $(this).attr("object-id") }; onHighlight(item); }); $(selector).mouseout(function(){ $(".playlist-item").removeClass("highlight"); onRemoveHightlight(); }); } $(".select-all").click(function(){ if ($(this).find("input").prop("checked")){ $(".filter-select input").prop("checked", true); $(".playlist-item").removeClass("hidden-filter"); } else{ $(".filter-select input").prop("checked", false); $(".playlist-item").addClass("hidden-filter"); } setItemResults(); }); }

thanks! I included the webmap id and filterField: "Project Type" in config.yml file . Now when I preview it, I get my map but the filter tool doesn't appear. Is there anything else I need to configure to get the filter tool?

Hi, Thanks for replying!! You are suggesting that I use a single webmap with two point layers for two tabs. When you click a tab, corresponding playlist items will be mapped and listed on the left. Is that what you meant? I followed this guide (https://github.com/Esri/playlist-storytelling-template-js#developer-guide) to setup the playlist app on my machine. When I do Step 1 &2 of ‘Preview and test development version’, it runs the default webmap (MPS Top 10 Visited Parks 2012) with no filter field. How do I change it to my webmap and set my filter field. Of course, I am able to do it in index.html after I build it . Please help, before building the app I want to debug on my local machine.
