Any word on if side by side versions are coming back? This would be very useful in cases that upgrading is too much time and effort.

ok look at it another way, if you put all the controls on a form and you resize the form, do the controls do the same thing?

The function returns an array of doubles. If you do something like this do you get an array? dim breaks() as double = pClassifyGEN. pClassifyGEN.ClassBreaks

I have dealt with citrix and ArcGIS desktop 8.3 and 9.2, the app was properly written but extremely inefficient. Things to watch out for are anything to do with the graphics card or display (cached based maps, dynamic layers, etc.) A big difference between your dev workstation and the citrix server is drawing accross the network. If you don't do regression testing with a citrix server, you have no way of validating your application. On the dev side it was sluggish but ok, on the citrix side, it ran but very very slow. The problem was the cpu load on the citrix server. The servers were sized with some rather optimistic expectations, ArcGIS desktop tends to be a resource hog at the best of times, the custom implementation resource usage was very bad so the system did not scale. Citrix will make any problem of your system very unforgiving because the resources are shared amongst many user. cheers

ZonalStatisticsAsTable (needs SpatialAnalyst) should get the Sum of all cells for each zone (value.) Multiply the number of cells by the area of a single cell and you have the area of each zone. The Zonal toolbox has other functions you might want to look at to do similar things. If no spatial analyst, write code to count the number of cells of each value and multiply by area of single cell.

Have you bound the application to a product? Have you initialized a license? For that, see RuntimeManager Class and AoInitializeClass.

axMapcontol, axTOCcontol, axToolbarcontrol all require an engine developer license. This annoys me to no end since I have a pool of 26 arcinfos and 6 ArcViews and I still need to buy engines sdk license for each machine that are used (each developer + build servers.) and they cannot be put on a license server, that even if engine is 10% of what our developers do. You can build your own map control though with Arcgis desktop, I think someone (Neil?) had posted a link on how to do this back in 2011... (maybe the old forum) http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/27892-.NET-ArcEngine-application-using-Desktop-license-not-working?p=94037#post94037

object is a lot like variant, that should be ok. It's not really a best practice to return an weak type in a method but not wrong. If you assign pClassifyGEN.ClassBreaks to a variable before returning it, can you check if it has a value?

this is most likely due to how the controls behave in terms of the control being resized. You will need to look at the docking properties of each control to see how they are configured and change them to handle resizing.

If the layers are marked with red exclamation mark then it can't read the data source. If it is local, then there is some delay for your application to read them on the workstation. 2 minutes sounds a bit much for an on access scan... A license manager delay would make the application really slow to start but wouldn't cause this. Is the data actually local or is it a mounted network drive or something?
