Okay. I printed the dataList and it is printing the entire list. Does that mean that line 26 and 29 are creating issues with list. So, when I try to pass this dataList directly to the tool (after commenting line 26 and 29), python freezes and crashes.

Thanks for your reply, Joshua! So, I printed out the userDataList and it says []. Does this mean the list is empty?

Hi Dan! Yes, the username exists. I tried using the Print Statement.The username in my GDB is GISUSER (all caps). Perhaps, the making it lower case is throwing it off?

Hi, We are using ArcGIS Desktop 10.4 with Python 2.7.10. We trying to automate the task of rebuilding the indexes on tables/feature classes owned by the user account part of the regular multi-user geodatabase maintenance. We can rebuild the indexes on the user tables manually without any problems using Data Owner account. However, when using the python script example provided in the Esri's help - Rebuild Indexes—Help | ArcGIS Desktop (pasted below), # Import system modules
import arcpy, os
# set workspace
workspace = "E:/sde/SDE_Data_Owner.sde"
# set the workspace environment
arcpy.env.workspace = workspace
# NOTE: Rebuild indexes can accept a Python list of datasets.
# Get a list of all the datasets the user has access to.
# First, get all the stand alone tables, feature classes and rasters.
dataList = arcpy.ListTables() + arcpy.ListFeatureClasses() + arcpy.ListRasters()
# Next, for feature datasets get all of the datasets and featureclasses
# from the list and add them to the master list.
for dataset in arcpy.ListDatasets("", "Feature"):
arcpy.env.workspace = os.path.join(workspace,dataset)
dataList += arcpy.ListFeatureClasses() + arcpy.ListDatasets()
# reset the workspace
arcpy.env.workspace = workspace
# Get the user name for the workspace
userName = arcpy.Describe(workspace).connectionProperties.user.lower()
# remove any datasets that are not owned by the connected user.
userDataList = [ds for ds in dataList if ds.lower().find(".%s." % userName) > -1]
# Execute rebuild indexes
# Note: to use the "SYSTEM" option the workspace user must be an administrator.
arcpy.RebuildIndexes_management(workspace, "NO_SYSTEM", userDataList, "ALL")
print('Rebuild Complete') Unfortunately, the python script throws following error message for line 33 above. I feel that it is not liking the userDataList variable? Any assistance in resolving this would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have read the documentation here - Geodatabase compression—Help | ArcGIS Desktop. As per this documentation, it is required to delete all the versions if you require to FULLY compress the geodatabase. For a normal/routine compression, do you require to delete the versions? Does Esri recommend to delete all the versions to compress the SDE? We have over 25 user versions in the SDE. If we delete and create the user versions, the data editors are getting issues in the MXD (snapping needs to be reset). We are using Oracle 11g RDBMS with ArcGIS 10.4. Any insight on the subject matter will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for comment/feedback, Patrick! Yes, the main idea is to create a data model first and collect/import all the applicable assets (Street light feeder pillar, Street light pole, Other components) part of the Street light data model in GIS. If there is any universal GIS data model available from Esri, we would like to use that first and modify it as per our requirements rather than starting from scratch.

Greetings, Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous 2018! Wondering if there is a data model that Esri has published for Street light dataset that exists somewhere on GIS for Utilities and Communications. For long term, I understand that Esri is moving towards to Utility Network asked their utility-based customers to get on board with Utility Network - Esri Utility Network Pro. While they publish the required data model for the Utility Network, for short term I checked here but didn't find a data model for the Street Light Dataset - What's New | ArcGIS for Electric Love to get some feedback on this. Thank you in advance.

Nevermind. I figured it out. I needed to create my ArcGIS Online account through my My Esri Product Information page/Fulfillment Page. After that, I choose Named User license and signed in through the ArcGIS Online account from ArcGIS Pro and it worked. I am surprised to see that no one from Esri has filled in the Gaps. Anyway, I am just extending my original reply for those who need an extra nudge to pass through this hurdle of authorizing licenses for ArcGIS. I am not sure if Esri changed any processes with this but when I purchased the ArcGIS for Personal Use, I received an email with title Esri - Order Fulfillment Confirmation (Order #) . After reviewing this email closely, I clicked on the link to access the items. Once I was on this page, I logged in with the username that I made the purchase. Next, you should see some info to setting up ArcGIS Pro from ArcGIS Online through a link. I hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, Stuart! I have one authorization number under my ArcGIS for Personal Use purchase which I assigned to Desktop. I checked all the tabs under Licensing on my esri portal but did not see any option for creating a separate authorization for ArcGIS Pro. As per description mentioned here - ArcGIS for Personal Use Program | ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced for Personal Use , I am supposed to get license for ArcGIS Pro. Also, the installation support is included. What's the Esri customer support number for ArcGIS Personal user that I can reach to get a support to resolve this?

Hello Everyone! I have purchased ArcGIS for Personal Use for training purposes. The ArcGIS for Personal Use included the ArcGIS Pro. I already authorized ArcGIS Desktop 10.5. However, I am unable to authorize license for ArcGIS Pro. I am assuming that I use Single use license from the dropdown in License Type as shown below in the screen capture. When I click on the Authorize, it takes me to the Software Authorization Wizard. There, I use the Single Use ArcGIS Desktop Advanced Authorization number that I used for activating the license for ArcGIS Desktop. Unfortunately, I get the following message shown below and I am not able use the ArcGIS Pro. Am I missing something here? Please help.

Hi Asrujit, Do you know if the SDE stores a log for a compression for the performed task mentioned above in this question? Specifically, when you only unregister 1 feature dataset out 15 as versioning and check the compress box. I didn't see any records in the SDE_Compress table . I made changes to two feature dataset but the data is missing in only one of the feature dataset. That means one of the feature dataset was compressed without creating a log? In fact, I performed the same steps again using sample data on my laptop. I found that the compress log file is creating a entry for the case mentioned above. This means that I did not check the compress option for the the feature dataset that was missing the data.

Thank you for your reply, Michael! Yes, this idea crossed my mind once. With this workflow, someone (data admin) will have to be in charge of that child version (of Default). The shortage of manpower is another issue.
