I believe it is a multipatch feature class. Right click on the layer > layer properties > Source > Data Source > Geometry Type  = Multipatch or Could you please check if extrusion is applied on this layer? Try following steps: 1. use Interpolate shape tool to extract the values of dem to polyline 2. Split the output polyline Useing split line at vertices tool 3. Use calculate geometry to have dem values in a field. 4. Use spatial join to join the elevation values from original polyline for comparison 5. As suggested by the Victor you can calculate min z / max x and then use spatial join tool to add these values in the point feature class. or You can try using topo to raster tool and generate a raster surface using polylines.
