Another option may be to create points from your less accurate lines and then snap them to your accurate lines. You may have to create some extra line segments from your accurate line.

When you create your lines and use the unique identifier for the data driven pages, on the lines feature class you will be able to set a page definition that will allow only the lines for that unique identifier to show you can make those lines any color you want, so they will contrast with the surrounding polygons

Use feature to line,split lines at vetices to get your polygons as lines to be able to label the distances if you use a unique identifier for your polygons you can use that same identifier to show your labeled lines this is also a property of data driven pages as mentioned above.

If you know what the symbol is called you could search for it, at the top of the symbol selector window there is a place to search. Where did you get the symbol you have, if it's from another map you could use the other map to discover the symbols source. The are also options to create your own symbols, if your interested in doing a little extra to get the symbology your after.

What is your workflow? What variables are the user examining? Like Freddie Gibson if you could programmatically test these variables it wouldn't be necessary for the user to interact with the program. You may have to switch to python, but anything you can automate, helps.
