Sorry, I am just curious about your problem, what you mean 'defaulted as public' , we created all logins defaulted as public, we didn't have this issue, we are using SQL server too. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I created a test user login and added to sde database as datareader, I didn't have aby problem to connect, but I do have problem with privileges as you said, it doesn't change anything. In our database, we do have very complicated logins, data owner, read-only users, windows logins, and database users, we don't have problem with privileges, all users has right right to access specific data. we don't set a user in datareader role from database level, because in this case, the user could and should read all data. Good luck !

Did you login to sql manager studio to check if the user and schema are really in your database (Security -> users or Schemas )? Or make a OLE DB connection to your database from ArcCatolog with the user?

I am no sure this will work for your case, but when I delete or load large amount records, I used to unregister as versioned, after the job done, then register as version .

I tried to add the layers from the sanpshot of sde database to ArcMap using Query Layer, but spatial references properties are disabled on my ArcMap, the query layer show as table, not as a layer. I didn't install MS SQL Spatial Extension. I searched the ESRI help online, I found the following : If you are creating query layers that include a spatial column, you must connect to a SQL Server 2008 (or higher) database and create query layers on tables that contain Microsoft Geometry and Geography columns. Besdies ArcSDE on the top of SQL server, MS SQL spatial extension is required or not? if it is required, probably it still not solve my problem. Thank you so much for the link. It is always good to learn some new things.

Hi, I have an ArcSDE database ( ArcSDE 10 and SQL server 2008 enterprise), I created a snapshot db on the SDE database. I could connect to the snapshot db with SQL Connections and do queries, I could successfully create a SDE Service on the snapshot db, but I could not make neither SDE nor direct connetions through ArcCatolog. Is it possible to use the sanpshot db via ESRI ArcSDE or Direct Connect ? Thanks for help.

In System 2, everything was fine, but all feature service were stopped. Some help or clue will be appreciated.

I think when using OS authentcation for SDE, publish data as ArcGIS server service, you need to add SOC account to your SDE database, and grant edit permission to . Please see the link: Using OS authentication http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisserver/9.3/java/index.htm#preparing_resources.htm For me, I don't add SOC account to SDE, I create a database user account specially for publishing data to services while others are OS accounts. "Write permissions for the ArcSDE data are required if you plan on editing the data. Note: When using OS authentication, these permissions must be granted to the ArcGISSOC user." What does this statement mean? I am confused.

I will try to extract my code and compile, then email to you, but probably I can get time to do it tomorrow. I posted my issues couple of week ago to looking for helps from ArcGIS API for Silverlight expertise, but still waiting for detailed solutions. I am newbie to work on ArcGIS API for Silverlight, so I am still learning on ArcGIS. What I need help to export the data in QueryNoMap example(http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/silverlight/samples/start.htm#QueryWithoutMap) to PDF and Excel. I could not find any similar codes to get them done. If possible please send the codes to my personal email at avt2K8@gmail.com. I really appreciate it. Thanks for experience sharing.

Actually I used SilverPDF.dll and ESRI print sample together for my work, I can export the map ( cross domain resources, graphics layers) and query result together as PDF, if you like, I can extract some code as a complied sample for you , but probably the size will be too big to post here.
