Hi, I'm using the WAB GP widget to execute a GP service and return results. If an error occurs server-side in my GP task I only get the information below in the WAB GP widget. Submitted. Executing... Failed Is there anyway of returning more information about what has occurred to the user via the widget e.g. a custom error message? Thanks, Steve

I'm using the find parameter of the WAB URL e.g. http://<your portal url>/apps/webappviewer/index.html?find=10237549 I have several geocoders configured and they all seem to be searched when the URL is processed. This seems quite expensive in terms of performance. Also, if the find value exists in more than one geocoder, then the incorrect geocoder may return a value. It would be useful to be able to specify which geocoder should be searched by the find parameter.

Hi, I have several geocoders configured for the Search widget. Users need these as they do a variety of searches from within the WAB application. However, when opening the WAB application I'd like to make a call to just one of these geocoders to locate the map at a certain point for the user. The find parameter of the WAB application URL seems only to accept a value to search for and it will search all of the configured geocoders for this value. This appears quite expensive in terms of performance and also there is a chance the value passed on the URL could be found in the wrong geocoder. I'd like to be able to specify which geocoder to perform the find on. Thanks, Steve

I'm fairly certain that new subtypes in your geodatabase would not appear in the mobile cache when synchronisation occurs. The subtypes are held in the mapschema.bin file of the mobile cache which does not get updated after the cache is created. A new version of the cache would need to be created in order to have knowledge of a new subtypes held in the geodatabase. I think a mismatch between the subtypes held in the geodatabase and those in the mobile caches would cause issues.

This could be related to the following post, hope it helps: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/29230-AGS-10-Mobile-SDK-exception-with-Window-deployment?referrerid=1634

I can confirm that I've experienced the same behaviour. First query on any cache data takes a long time to execute and then subsequent cache queries execute quickly. I assume either data is loaded into memory and / or indexing is occurring as part of the first cache query execution. I have noticed that this only persists for the lifetime of the application instance as the same pattern is apparent on application restart.

There is no support for group layers in ArcGIS Mobile. However, if you're using the SDK it may be possible to create your own layer visibility dialog / table of contents that supports layer grouping through client-side configuration.

Hi, This might not be related. However, I've experienced problems creating a Feature object from a FeatureDataReader when the feature in question is not symbolised in the map document. If there is not a specific symbol defined for a feature the "All Other Values" symbolisation needs to be enabled in order to return a valid Feature object. Thanks, Steve

Hi, The reason we were able to create a mobile cache from a published MSD is that we used the SDK to create the mobile cache rather than the GP tool. However, as far as I know, the SDK only allows connections to data via a mobile data access enabled map service (not directly via MXD / MSD). Thanks, Steve

Hi Steve, Have you submitted the obstacle you encountered with raster data not being extracted into the mobile cache when using MSDs on ArcGIS Beta Community website? If you haven't already, please submit a bug report under the ArcGIS for Windows Mobile Beta program so the Mobile Team can review and respond accordingly. Thank you, Denise Hi Denise, Sorry, I forgot to add that this was using ArcGIS Mobile 10 (I've updated my original post to mention this). I haven't checked this in 10.1 beta yet. Thanks, Steve

...Since creating a mobile cache requires "Mobile Data Access" capability and MSDs does not allow this capabilbity... In ArcGIS Mobile 10 we have successfully published MSDs with "Mobile Data Access" enabled. However, we had to revert to using MXDs as raster data was not extracted into the mobile cache when using MSDs.

Yes, good point, this will work for downloading data asynchronously (using the callback parameter of the BeginDownloadExtent method to indicate completion). Just want to add in reply to the second post in this thread: My understanding is that there isn't a comparable way of uploading data asynchronously i.e. there isn't a BeginUploadExtent method. Therefore, you might need to use FeatureLayerSyncAgent and its Synchronize method for this case.
