Hi Saffet, There was a previous discussion on this topic. Re: Is there a repository or database of rule files that are available to be downloaded? If you want to see some great lot rules to look at check out the ArcGIS 3D resource center and look through the ESRI.lib that comes with CityEngine. The 3D GIS resource center has a number of projects which includes rule files, assets, and other procedural examples. The most common set of rules that we like to share with people include the Redland's Example and others found on the website. If you are interested in streets, there is a new Complete Streets Example that shows how street rules can be constructed. David

I wondered when the British Empire would come knocking at my door... In the Population Attribute group you can adjust angled parking manually. It is a quick fix. I will take a look at this for the next update however. Thanks for the report. David

Hi Robert, So to clarify you are trying to represent setbacks for buildings procedurally? Similar to this image? David

Hi Robert, Nope. You lost me. CGA will always start geometry creation process relative to the base shape, thus if the shape is on the ground, it will be a bottom up process because it is building it from the base shape. What is it you want to achieve with CGA that you are doing now with manually orienting and modeling shapes? What needs to change for you to accomplish your goals?

A note on "Empty Space"L I got a question recently asking me what the grey texture at the side of the street was. The answer is it is empty space that is masquerading as drainage culverts. When you design a street rule you have two options to deal with "rounding error". You either use a ~ to have the texture to fill in the gap, or you you find something else to do with unallocated space. I choose to allocate another texture to deal with this because I wanted the street width to be as exact as possible. So your next question how easily debug to reduce the grey space? Well I got you covered there too. I put into the rule a Flag Empty Space command. It will flag all streets where the empty space is greater than 1/3 the current lane width. You can use this to change the design decisions for the streets lane widths etc, and on a large scale it works best when you have textures turned off. See image below. Hope you Street Rule users find this post helpful. Steve Rhyne Kathryn Angleton Thanks Andy. David

Hi Robert, Going to take a shot in the dark, because I am not sure I understand the question. From first glance it looks like you did not comp(f) the top of the footprint, or perhaps orientation in your comp got changed. Can we see the script in question? David

I did not think of that immediately, but I have had it happen where the attributes got changed enough that something happened to the base shape. I had to do something similar. Glad it works now.

Hi Andy, I experimented a bit, and checked the code briefly. Yes, there is a height threshold. To check this please use the move tool to literally raise your bridge up? It might be possible to use terrain off-sets, but essentially the bridge needs to be off the ground. Have you tried pre-processing the terrain in ArcMap? David

Yeah Andy, the Piers are interesting in that they include commands to override them in certain circumstances (we had concerns about occlusion settings for the bridge). What setting are you using? On, Show All Piers should override it. Are you making a highway by chance? If you are just know that shoulders are available in bicycle buffer settings and in the center section choices. David

Its a small thing but I try. There are other hidden attributes too that I added in the last update...just in case people don't like my assumptions. I am thinking about making crosswalk width explicit (not hidden) in the next update. There are other hidden attributes too that might be worth revealing just do a Cntl+ F in the rule and search @Hidden. They usually have a description with them if I intended them to be revealed by a user if they wanted. Hope this helps, David

Hey Steve, Just so you know, the crosswalk width will equal the max sidewalk width, so if you widen the sidewalks you widen crosswalks...I abstracted that away because I felt it was right to defer to NACTO on that issue (see number 2). If you want to have crosswalk width be visible though, go into the rule and unhide the crosswalk width attributes I created. Happy Street Building, David
