One resolution to Pro crashes to go to the manufacturer's website for your video/graphics card and update the driver directly from them. Simply using a Windows Update procedure will not work. Once the latest driver is installed, then a lot of Pro crashes/instability is removed.

Graeme - correct. If maintenance lapses or is not renewed, then the use of ArcGIS Pro is not available. But your ArcMap/ArcCatalog licenses remain at their last maintained release. As far as software costs, that's a question for our sales team as well as the executive team - well above my pay grade.

You are correct that ArcGIS for Desktop (not including ArcGIS Pro) are perpetual licenses. If you discontinue maintenance, then a user can continue to use ArcGIS for Desktop (i.e. ArcMap, ArcCatalog, etc.) without future upgrades. ArcGIS Pro uses a new licensing model that is subscription based. As long as user is current on maintenance, they may continue to use ArcGIS Pro. Many software companies moved to the subscription based licensing model a while ago. With ArcGIS Pro, Esri uses this model. It is a paradigm shift from perpetual licenses certainly. As to the why's of changing the licensing model, I'd had to defer to the ArcGIS Pro team as I'm an ArcGIS Pro Instructor for Esri. Hope this clarifies the question.

Maps and layouts are saved as part of the project (.aprx). Other than sharing maps as a Web Map on ArcGIS Online, they're stored in the project. Much like many Data Frames being stored in the *.mxd of ArcMap.

Not sure as I'm not on the ArcGIS Pro Dev Team - I'm an Instructor (Desktop, SDE, Pro). I certainly hope so though - would love to see it too!

Thomas - you are correct that ArcGIS Pro 1.0 is not complete. The Pro Development team is working hard for the next release 1.1 this summer and 1.2 later. Each subsequent release will bring further enhancements to the software, stability fixes, and new functionality. I would think the Excel issue will be addressed in a future release.

By "ruins" the whole database, what do you mean? Since there's only 1 feature class (that is versioned), adding an attribute field would be seen across all versions.

Chad - the data owner of a versioned feature class can add a new field without going through the whole process of unregistering and re-registering. Once the data owner creates the new field, it is seen in all versions. Regards, Robert LeClair Esri-Denver

Jean-Guy, ArcGIS Pro 1.0 is not a finished product rather is the first release of a new Desktop application. At the 1.1 release (and future releases), there will be more functionality introduced into the application. Annotation is coming as is a more robust mapping experience. Hope this helps. An option is to consider is in the same Context Menu - select Data -> Export Features. This starts the Copy Features GP tool. Granted it creates a new feature class but would work. Not sure if the ArcMap functionality is to be ported over in the future or not.
