One thing I've tried to better randomize the colors is the following workflow: In the Symbology Pane, click the Color Scheme dropdown. Change the Color Scheme to Random Color Scheme. Click Format Color Scheme... to open the Color Scheme Editor. Click Regenerate or change the Minimum Color and Maximum Color to change the random colors. Click Regenerate and then OK. Does the randomness along polygon borders improve?

From what I've learned researching Esri Support Services records is that some of the *.las files are Version 1.0 but their point formats are set to 3 which is wrong. The result is throwing the error message. Version 1.0 point formats can be 0 and 1 only. Additionally, I found 2 bugs that may explain what you're seeing: NIM089327 - Certain LAS files cannot be added to a LAS dataset and result in the following error: "One or more invalid or unsupported LAS files were ignored." Steps to reproduce: This issue has been reviewed by product development and they found that the attached sample dataset contains 2 additional user defined bytes in the header which is causing the issue. The current LAS SR support does not take the user defined bytes into account when checking the total number of bytes after geo tags. NIM087051 - An LAS file projected using LP360 fails to load into an LAS dataset in ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 with the error, "One or more invalid or unsupported LAS files were ignored." The same projected LAS file loads in ArcGIS 10.1 with no problems. Not sure if this is the root cause of your error messages but it's a start.

Thx for the information Malcolm. Quick question for you - have you updated the video card driver on both PC's directly from NVIDIA's website?

When you add your newly created feature class in ArcMap, what are the coordinates displayed in the Data Frame? Are they page page (i.e. 2, 😎 or are they Lat-Long (i.e. -105.37, 37.5) or are they in hundreds of thousands or millions? It could be that the data is already in a coordinate system and the only thing you'd have to do is Define the Projection.

Not sure if this will work but there's an Explode command on the Modify Features pane that makes individual features from a multipart line/polygon. What type of feature class is the output from the SketchUp file? Is it a point/line/polygon/multipatch?

Do you have the Data Interoperability extension? That also can import *.skp files as well.

One workaround is to set guides on your X and Y planes of the layout. Right-click on the ruler in Layout View, select Add Guides, click Both for Orientation, Offset from edge for Placement and perhaps 0.5 for the Margin (or whatever you feel is appropriate.). 4 guidelines will be added to your layout. Then you may create your map inside of those guides.

Does the user have multiple dataframes in the *.mxd and is attempting to start an edit session on an inactive dataframe by chance? This has come up in Support Services calls in the past.

I'd recommend running the Analyze Tools for Pro GP tool to see if it will run correctly in AGP. The output of the GP tool is a text file with error codes to use for troubleshooting and fixing prior to running in AGP.

Okay - so you created the backup, open SSMS, went to the correct database and view the repository tables for the 4 lock tables. Then deleted any locks in one or more of those repository tables and the issue remains? If so, then I would encourage a tech support call to get this figured out.

Sophie - you'll need to re-add those locators as for some reason they're no longer in your AGP project. To do, so click the Locate command on the Inquiry group. In the Locate Pane, click the + sign to add a locate provider. In the Select Existing Locator UI that opens, click All Portal on the left side of the UI and type BNG or OS Open in the upper right box of the open UI that says "Search Portal: All Portal". Based upon the search results, add the missing locators to your Locate Pane and proceed with your workflows.

The direct connect is fine and is best practice. What you need to do is view the repository tables (sde and gdb tables) using Oracles or Microsoft Management tools. What RDBMS are you using?
