Yes, that's true Dan. If customers do not want to purchase an extension for a one-time work flow then using Ready to Use tools is much cheaper overall.

Thank you for your response Tony. I don't take your pessimism personally - I can understand your frustrations. In my role as a Senior Instructor for the last 11+ years with Esri, I've heard a lot from customers about what they like or don't like about the software. It's a tricky industry... Back to solving your AGP problem! AGP UI's are not dependent on license servers so no need to return to the drawing board. Did you import a *.mxd into this AGP project or was it created brand new? What is the difference in the Map View for each layout? Is there an ArcGIS Server service being reference or something else from AGOL that's different.

All great suggestions Mike - one thing we've seen frequently is outdated video card drivers that cause frequent crashes. Just right clicking on the video card via Device Manager->Display Adapters won't do it. I've had to go directly to the manufacturer's website, search for and download the latest driver. Not sure if this would explain the poor performance of AGP but something else to try.

Thank you for the information Tony. Sometimes a clean install does clear the problem. If you have not done this, you may want to try at a time that works best for you. The license question has more to do with Concurrent Use on a LM. Perhaps there's a communication issue from AGP to the LM that could cause latency. Another workflow to try is rename the Esri folder in your C:\users\<user profile\appdata\roaming directory and your C:\users\<user profile\appdata\local

Gotcha - thx for the details. So what I would do is Project the line feature class to NAD83 Stateplane New Mexico East FIPS 3001 (Meters) using the Project tool in either ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro. Add that to a new map and ensure the Map View or Dataframe is in the same Stateplane coordinate system. Then try the workflow again. I think the project on the fly function from WGS84 to Stateplane might explain the differences you're seeing.

Some other troubleshooting items to try: Delete your index under Options->Indexing. Play with the settings to update the index periodically - such as every 3 hours or 6 hours. Tweak the reindexing options. Was AGP a clean install or an update (2.2.3)? If an update, remove AGP and reinstall cleanly. Are you using any sde connections or just referencing file geodatabase data? What type of license are you using? Single/Concurrent/Named? What OS are you using? Windows 7/8/10?

Is the Map View or Data Frame in the same coordinate system as well? I see you're using Meters for your units - is the discrepancy a conversion issue by chance? Meters to Feet?

Another route to consider is the Watershed Function in the Raster Functions pane. Does not incur credit expense like Ready to Use Portal tools will.

What's your current coordinate system for the Map View? With map projections, you will get distortions of shape, area, distance, and/or direction. Key is choosing the proper coordinate system that preserves distance. Also, avoid on the fly projection if your map view has feature classes in a variety of coordinate systems. This may introduce spatial error as well.

There's an ArcGIS Idea somewhat similar to what you're wanting to do - https://community.esri.com/ideas/15058-convert-labels-to-annotation-functionality-similar-to-arcmap If it's not exactly what you want to do, then I recommend contributing a new ArcGIS Idea for this AGP functionality.

Vincent - so this is a strange workflow in the sense a feature-linked annotation feature class has to already exist in order for this command to be active. What I did was label a point feature class, convert labels to feature linked annotation, add it to the map, select a feature not labeled or with annotation for it, then right click on the layer in the map view and select Annotation Selected Features. This seems to be workflow to add new annotation to your existing annotation FC when the original label was marked unplaced.

David - working through the Support Pages I found the following information - You are correct that ArcGIS Pro does not currently have the same Viewfield angle functionality as ArcScene or ArcGlobe. The only way to incorporate such a feature at the moment would be through the following add-in: ArcGIS Pro Camera Navigation add-in: https://github.com/Esri/arcgis-pro-sdk-community-samples/tree/master/Map-Exploration/CameraNavigation In addition to the above script, there is an enhancement request as follows: Resolution: ENH-000116874 : Provide advanced view field tools in ArcGIS Pro 2.2.2 when displaying and navigating 3D scenes

Did you do a clean uninstall of any previous ArcGIS for Desktop 10.x and then a clean install of ArcGIS Desktop 10.6? Sometimes an upgrade (without a clean uninstall) creates some wonky behaviors such as this.

Hmmmm...I have not seen this behavior when I upgraded AGP from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3. One workflow I use to correct strange AGP behaviors to rename the Esri folder in your C:\Users\<user profile>\AppData\Roaming and C:\Users\<user profile>\AppData\Local directories. Does the behavior persist?
