Thanks for the info, Robert. What you say is the direction in which ESRI is moving with regard to ID capability is very, very disheartening. If an app has only a few layers, then configuring pop-ups is no problem. But for an app with hundreds of layers? And at present, there is no way to configure pop-ups for thematic raster layers. Has ESRI even considered how to handle identify for raster layers? Or are we supposed to vectorize everything? App performance using vectorized rasters is drastically slower than just rasters, and requires caching. This is a mission critical problem for me. I don't know what ESRI is thinking, and have been wondering this since there was no ID tool built into Flex. After seeing WAB, I wish they would bring back the old .NET app, which had everything I need built in, including ID capability.

Hi Robert, Off the top of your head, will there be a customizable Identify widget available for WAB Developer Edition like your widget for Flex? Looking at the online-only WAB (non-developer) tools, there is nothing close to an ID widget, which I MUST HAVE. Obviously I need one which works for thematic rasters as well as attributed vector-based feature classes. Will you have to come to our rescue yet again and make us an awesome ID tool? Or will ESRI have one built in? Best regards, Barnaby

Same for me about the case. But the 3.7 shapefile widget works fine for me. config.xml: <widget url="widgets/Shapefiles/ShapefilesWidget.swf" config="widgets/Shapefiles/ShapefilesWidget_1.xml" label="Load Shapefile Tool" icon="assets/images/shapefiles.png" x="150" y="250"/> Note that this code was untouched by me during upgrade from Flex 3.6, and was likely carried over from the Flex 3.6 version of the viewer.

Robert, I solved the issue by attributing the raster RGB file, which is in ERDAS Imagine format. I added a field called "Link" and filled it with the url of the legend image (legend.jpg) for every value in the raster (0-255). This ID widget XML then does the job. <layer> <name>RGB raster layer</name> <id>41</id> <url>https://MyServer/arcgis/rest/services/Service1/MapServer</url> <fields> <field name="Red" alias="Mineral1 endmember (red)"/> <field name="Green" alias="Mineral2 endmember (green)"/> <field name="Blue" alias="Mineral3 endmember (blue)"/> <field name="Link" alias="" popuponly="true"/> </fields> <links> <link includeinresults="true" field="Link" tooltip="Link to explanation"> <linksuffix/> <iconfield/> <iconprefix>https://MyServer/images/legend.jpg</iconprefix> <iconsuffix/> </link> </links> <zoomscale>2000</zoomscale> <forcescale>true</forcescale> </layer>

Hi Robert, Here's a strange one for you. I have an un-attributed, simple RGB raster image in a published service, and I want a small (~150x150 pixel) image showing an explanation to come up in the ID widget results when any pixel in the published raster is clicked on. Is this possible? Best regards, Barnaby

Hi Robert, I cannot get custom link icons to be displayed in the ID results. Only the default icons display. Although I can access the link icon (attached to this post) via this link: http://myserver/assets/icons/PDF_icon_15p.jpg the following xml will not bring up that icon: <layer> <name>Hyperlinked WSA polygons - Nevada</name> <id>0</id> <url>http://myserver/ArcGIS/rest/services/usmin_demo/wsa_overview_web/MapServer</url> <fields> <field name="wsa_name" alias="Wilderness Study Area"/> <field name="high_res_min" alias="Resources (high res)"/> <field name="mod_res_min" alias="Resources (moderate res)"/> <field name="usgs_pub" alias="USGS report"/> <field name="usbm_pub" alias="USBM report"/> <field name="pub_other" alias="Other report"/> <field name="usgs_pdf_link" popuponly="true" alias="USGS report link"/> <field name="usbm_pdf_link" popuponly="true" alias="USBM report link"/> <field name="pub_other_pdf" popuponly="true" alias="Other report link"/> </fields> <links> <link includeinresults="true" field="usgs_pdf_link" alias="USGS report link" tooltip="Link to USGS report" popuplinktype="image"> <linkprefix/> <linksuffix/> <iconfield>PDF_icon_15p</iconfield> <iconprefix>http://myserver/assets/icons/</iconprefix> <iconsuffix>.jpg</iconsuffix> </link> <link includeinresults="true" field="usbm_pdf_link" alias="USBM report link" tooltip="Link to USBM report" popuplinktype="image"> <linkprefix/> <linksuffix/> <iconfield>PDF_icon_15p</iconfield> <iconprefix>http://myserver/assets/icons/</iconprefix> <iconsuffix>.jpg</iconsuffix> </link> <link includeinresults="true" field="pub_other_pdf" alias="Other report link" tooltip="Link to other report" popuplinktype="image"> <linkprefix/> <linksuffix/> <iconfield>PDF_icon_15p</iconfield> <iconprefix>http://myserver/assets/icons/</iconprefix> <iconsuffix>.jpg</iconsuffix> </link> </links> <zoomscale>2000</zoomscale> <forcescale>true</forcescale> </layer> Am I doing something wrong? I also tried popuplinktpe="text" and that doesn't help. Thanks in advance, Barnaby

Hi Robert, I'm having trouble configuring links with current ID widget version. I have a published polygon feature class in a gdb which has a variety of fields, including three which contain text urls to pdf files on the web. I want to configure the ID widget so that the ID results contain links (with icons) to the files. For each polygon in the feature class, the three link fields are not always populated with a link, so some polygons will have 3 links, some 2, and some 1. At least one link is present for each polygon. Fields with no links have <Null> value in the gdb. For polygons with links for all three fields, the links display properly in the ID widget results (see id_3link_good.jpg). However, for polygons with no links in either of the first two link fields, no links display (see id 1link_bad.jpg). How do I get the link to be properly displayed in this case? Here is the pertinent widget xml: <layer> <name>Hyperlinked WSA polygons - Nevada</name> <id>0</id> <url>http://server/ArcGIS/rest/services/usmin_demo/wsa_overview_web/MapServer</url> <fields> <field name="wsa_name" alias="Wilderness Study Area"/> <field name="high_res_min" alias="Resources (high res)"/> <field name="mod_res_min" alias="Resources (moderate res)"/> <field name="usgs_pub" alias="USGS report"/> <field name="usbm_pub" alias="USBM report"/> <field name="pub_other" alias="Other report"/> <field name="usgs_pdf_link" popuponly="true" alias="USGS report link"/> <field name="usbm_pdf_link" popuponly="true" alias="USBM report link"/> <field name="pub_other_pdf" popuponly="true" alias="Other report link"/> </fields> <links> <link includeinresults="true" field="usgs_pdf_link" alias="USGS report link" tooltip="Link to USGS report" popuplinktype="text"> <linkprefix/> <linksuffix/> <iconfield/> <iconprefix/> <iconsuffix/> </link> <link includeinresults="true" field="usbm_pdf_link" alias="USBM report link" tooltip="Link to USBM report" popuplinktype="text"> <linkprefix/> <linksuffix/> <iconfield/> <iconprefix/> <iconsuffix/> </link> <link includeinresults="true" field="pub_other_pdf" alias="Other report link" tooltip="Link to other report" popuplinktype="text"> <linkprefix/> <linksuffix/> <iconfield/> <iconprefix/> <iconsuffix/> </link> </links> <zoomscale>2000</zoomscale> <forcescale>true</forcescale> </layer> Let me know if you need more info. Thanks in advance, Barnaby

Note that in Flex 3.0 and 3.6, one should add the <link...> line to the header section of the "default.html" file in the main folder of your Flex viewer.
