🙂 Yes you need ArcGIS server. Also if you use vs2010 I would recommend to use ArcGIS API for Silverlight

Thank you very much. Yes I thought about this possibility. The Linear Referencing model we use is not suitable for Network Analyst (Route not connected) and it's managed externaly, we can't modify it. However I can create a network that interconnect my LRS model and define rules and direction of travel (for a motorway it shouldn't be to hard). Then I can create a geoprocessing tool that draws the "shortest route" based on the user defined "start" and "end" points and relocate the linear result on my LRS Route Model. It's sounds a bit like a makeshift job and I wanted to know if anyone knows another way of doing it.

Hello, I work for a Motorway Maintenance Organisation. We use the Linear Referencing System as base of our location system. Our network is divided in many "Routes" (LRS Model). I want to implement a geoprocessing tool that allow the users to generate "Lines" features automatically, based on start and end points they define. Concept: The user enter a "start" and "end" point (Click on the Map) The geoprocessing tool locates these points (Locate feature along route) and then generate a new line feature (Make Route Event Layer). This is my problem: I don't know how it is possible to manage the "connexions" between the "Routes" with the Linear Referencing System. If the start and end points are on differents routes that are connected in the real world, how is it possible for the Linear Referencing System to detect this connection and for the "make route event layer" to "jump" from one Route to another ? Has someone have already work on that ?

Nop, sorry, that's the compiled version... I've got a copy of the 2.3.1 (2.3 MB, so too large to be attached). How can I send it to you ? Also if you don't have the source code for the application you need to modify, you will have to start it from scratch. So why not starting with latest version (FV2.4) ?

Hi, So finally it is possible to achieve this using VBA (that means to install VBA and get an authorization file from Esri). Then the piece of code mentioned above in the first post works fine. I'm a bit worried that Esri replace VBA by Python if the Python Library is not at least at the same level of completion than the VBA one.

Hello, I'm looking for a bit of help with this: I've got a polyline feature that contains hundreds of data. I symbolized the data using "Categories" ?? "Unique values". How can I make the labels color matching the polylines symbols color ? I found a script on the forum to achieve that but it's made with VBA. Did anyone solve this problem using Python Script ? Cheers

Thanks you Tony. It's exactely what I finally did ... 🙂 private function onCheckBoxClick(event:MouseEvent):void { event.stopPropagation(); if (data is TocItem) { var item:TocItem = TocItem(data); item.visible = _checkbox.selected; if (item.parent && item.visible == true){ item.parent.visible = true; if (item.parent.isTopLevel()==false){ item.parent.scaledependant = true; } if (item.parent.parent){ item.parent.parent.visible = true; if (item.parent.parent.isTopLevel()==false){ // Util the last children of the tree meet hit's TopLayer Grand Pa' I didn't have time yet to make it better with a loop so it's probably not the smarter way of doing it but it works, except that the ScaleDependantCheckBoxes get a bit crazy sometimes. For the Children it's a bit different. You can ask for the "item.parent's parent" but not for the "item.children's childrens" so I just loop down the hierarchy one time which is enough for me: if (item.children && item.isTopLevel()==false && item.visible == true && item.isTopLevel()==false){ for each (var itemKid:TocItem in item.children) { itemKid.visible = true; if (itemKid.scaledependant == true){ itemKid.scaledependant = true; } } } It sounds more like tinkering than proper programming... The ScaleDependantCheckBoxes get crazy too. I'm happy if you can tell me more Tony about the way you would do it. Any advice is welcome. Please also see my other post about hiding the children in the table of Content. Thanks, Matt

Arc Server 10 FlexViewer 2.3.1 Hello, I'm upgrading a customized FlexViewer application from FlexViewer 1.3 to Flexviewer 2.3.1. In the version of the FlexViewer 1.3 we implemented the Table Of Content that appears on this threads: http://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=158&f=2421&t=302802#947017 The link to the code source has been redirected and I can't find it anymore. This Table of Content for 1.3 has an interesting functionality: When the users turn on a child within a GroupLayer, the event is spread in the tree and the parents are automatically turned on. So the user can target what he want to see on the map without worrying about turning-on the all tree hierarchy. I'm using now the Table Of Content implemented by Robert Scheitlin. I tried to recreate this functionality. I try to understand how the "tocClasses" classes work together, but it's really complicated. I compare the "tocClasses" code in 1.3 and 2.3.1 but it's not successful yet. Has anyone implemented this kind of functionality? Thanks, Matt Matt

I tried to get my "hideChildren" function working. So far I managed to hide the children of a MapService (Layer) but I didn't find a way of hiding the children of a particular GroupLayer in the MapService. To hide the Children of the MapService: In TOCWidget.mxml: var lyr:Layer = ViewerContainer.getInstance().mapManager.map.getLayer("myLayer"); toc.hideChildren(lyr); In TOC.as: public function hideChildren(layer:Layer):void{ var tocItem:TocMapLayerItem; if(_mapLayerItems[layer]) { tocItem = _mapLayerItems[layer]; } else { tocItem = new TocMapLayerItem(layer,_labelFunction,_isMapServiceOnly); _mapLayerItems[layer] = tocItem; } if (tocItem.children){ tocItem.children = null; if (_tocRoots) { for (var i:int = _tocRoots.length - 1; i >= 0; i--) { if (TocItem(_tocRoots).parent === tocItem.parent) { _tocRoots.removeItemAt(i); } } } } } So it keeps the TopLevel of the tree visible and hide the children in the Table Of Content, if the Children are turned on, they are still visible on the map (that's what I want) they are just "hidden" in the TOC tree. It's a start but it's not quite what I want to achieve. I'd like to hide the Children of a specific GroupLayer within the MapService and not all the childrens of the MapServices. Any help ? Thanks Matt

Arc Server 10 Flexviewer 2.3.1 Hello, I'm using the Table Of Content implemented by Robert Scheitlin. In my mapservices , I have some "groupLayers" that contain duplicated data with different symbology at different scale, all the items whithin these GroupLayers are turned on. The users just need to turn the GroupLayer on or off to see the data and it's not relevant for them to be able to dropdown these "groupLayer" and see the content. What I'd like to do is to implement a function that hide the groupLayer content in the TOC. I'd like to be able to define which grouplayers' children I want to hide in the Table of Content config.xml. for example: this is my MapService: //Server/ArcGIS/rest/services/MyMapService/MapServer - Layer (1) - Layer (2) (GroupLayer) ______- Layer(3) ______- Layer(4) - Layer (5) I'd like to be able to add in the TOC config.xml something like: <hideChildren> //Server/ArcGIS/rest/services/MyMapService/MapServer/2 </hideChildren> In the TOC.as : I tried to use "_tocRoots.removeItemAt" I saw that "unregisterMapLayer" can hide a MapServices and I tried to recreate the same thing for the tocItem.children but I struggle. Some help would be very appreciated. Matt
