same result. Any other thoughts? Is it possibly a permissions issue with the service? That's the only thing that jumps out at me as the service is set to logon as the AGS admin account instead of local system. thanks

I am getting no errors. A cmd window opens and closes again so fast I can't see if it says anything. I kept getting schema lock messages in my model and then I checked the services on the server and the ArcGIS Server service was still running and continued to after trying the script. I'm running it on another machine. The machine with ArcGIS desktop on it, where I run my models.

I've used the following script to start/stop the AGS windows service, standalone and in models, so I can do some data management with very little downtime. This script worked find in 10.0 but doesn't work in 10.1 now. The name of the windows service changed and is reflected in the script but it does not start/stop the service as expected. I can't seem to find out what changed in 10.1 that made this not work, nor can I find any alternative that makes any sense to me. I need it to be a script without any prompts. I've seen posts about stopping individual services but I don't see the need to do that when I can stop it all through the windows service instead...and much faster....plus all those scripts prompted for service name. Anyone know what is wrong with this code now? Thanks import os import arcpy os.system('sc \\\\MachineName stop "ArcGIS Server"')

Beginner question here. I have a web application in place using flex and am looking into the best way to offer it on mobile devices. (the ArcGIS app, serving up my AGS service, doesn't have alot to offer) Flash isn't supported on mobile devices so I can't open my application using the mobile browsers....so how is using flex on mobile done? Is it creating a custom iOS/Android/etc app that has flash built in? If that is the case, I should be able to take my web application flex project and edit it to suit mobile flex? Are there any good guides available to help do such a thing? Sorry for all of the questions. Creating the flex web app was my only experience in this realm and I certainly have none in the mobile realm. Thanks!

Just in case this helps someone else at some point... I'm still working with tech support to find out why this is happening (had over 10 hours on the phone with them so far) and what issues this workaround may cause.....but what we did was create a 2nd instance of the web adapter. The 2nd adapter didn't have the same issue with the server directories that they 1st one did for some reason. So i then pointed my url's to the 2nd adapter and all seems to be well so far. For example, http://.....com/arcgis1/rest/services/ instead of http:/....com/arcgis/rest/services/ The 2 seem to function side by side, accessing the same info. We'll see if there turn out to be any negatives.

I did end up getting the post install to work after reinstalling the web adapter, but that didn't help. I've been on the phone with esri all day today, with 4 different departments, and things have actually gotten worse instead of better. The one positive is that once we created a 2nd instance of the web adapter, I was able to reach the directories...however... Now all my data is supposedly "invalid" even though nothing changed with my map service or data since it was last working (this morning). I tried telling myself that 10.1 was a bad idea but I went and did it anyway.

I tried running the Configure Server Account (I don't recall entering that info during installation so maybe that is the answer?) but it crashes every time I try to run it....the moment I click the "configure" button. The directories listed in the Manager are correct.

When trying to access the server directories (arcgisoutput etc) via url, i'm getting a 403 access denied error and I'm not sure why. The directories have the same permissions as they did in 10.0 and supposedly 10.1 took care of adding anything additional. Any thoughts on what could be wrong? Do I need a virtual directory? If so, where? The new structure, with the web adapter, is confusing so I'm not sure what else needs to be done. I can access Rest and my application is fine....it just can't access the output created. Thanks

I have been working on getting my 2.5 application up on flexviewer 3.0 but found an issue and I'm not sure what is going on. When using the enhanced search widget graphical search function, the graphics are not visible. I'm still able to search on where those graphics should be but the actual graphic itself no longer appears like it did in 2.5. I've tried using both the compiled and uncompiled version of the widget. Any ideas what might be wrong? I'm using AGS 10.0, flash 11.3, and tried multiple browsers just in case. Thanks!

Thanks. I did happen to see that today but since creating this post I took a stab at fixing it to compile in 3.0 and was successful. The only bug I found, in limited testing, was that I couldn't save templates. Couldn't figure out how to fix that one. Maybe I'll take a look at what coomsie did and see if he got it working. I also dismantled the widget somewhat to create a separate widget just for measuring with a line. It's certainly sloppy/not ideal since this is new to me but it looks like it'll work...which is good since there are no alternatives out there.

I'm using the Advanced Drawing Widget for my 2.5 application, but am trying to get it compiled to 3.0 and failing. FlexBuilder is giving me some errors and I'm unsure how to fix them. Has anyone done this already? I'm using that widget pretty much solely cause of it displaying measurements on the fly, as you draw something, not just after completing the drawing. If I can't get this compiled in 3.0, does anyone know of an alternative to get this functionality? Thanks
