This is what I am using. I have only had it live for a few days but all seems well other than that one user I mentioned. Hope it helps. FYI I haven't used Firefox at all for my application so I can't comment on that. I use both IE and Chrome, as do our local users. EDIT: For future reference, this is for version 3.1

First I'd just like to say that this is a huge PITA to deal with every time I change versions (i just reverted back to 3.1 actually), especially since that ConfigManager changes slightly apparently and I'm not sure if I'm editing it correctly based on the file Robert posted above.....so I really wish that this would just be incorporated in the the viewer by ESRI as it seems like an absolute necessity to me. I'm not sure if the issue you are seeing is what I've just noticed myself. One of my users is having an issue where (when using IE only) the widgets do not load as they seem to hang as they wait for the TOC to load. IF this is the same issue as you are experiencing, note that this is only (afaik) happening to this one user on my end so I believe it is an issue with IE or flash player on that machine. Check to see if the same thing happens on another browser or machine. If that is not the case for you, I can offer you my edited ConfigManager.as for 3.1 to add in your project and see if that helps.

Is there maybe a tool available that could tell me all the details of what is happening when you click on something in the application? I tried using the Flash Builder debugging but I can't seem to get it to show any useful details at all. I'd really like to sort this out, otherwise I'm going to have to revert back to 3.0 and lose some other functionality. Thanks

1 - what isn't appearing correctly? In what way? Just in case this is the issue, if the legend patches are a bit garbled, try this: http://support.esri.com/en/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/40538 2 - C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\Templates\ExportWebMapTemplates go there and remove the ones you do not want and restart the service. 3 - I'm guessing this would require editing of the source for the widget in Flash Builder. Or maybe if you made your own template you could do what you wanted? http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/#/Using_your_own_layouts_for_printing/01540000057v000000/

This is probably a long shot but I can't seem to figure it out on my own so I'll ask. I'm using flexviewer 3.6, server 10.2, and the PCHPrintSOE advanced print widget. All is well except one little annoying issue....which did not exist prior to 3.6. (I went from 3.0 to 3.6) After opening the advanced print widget, feature info popups no longer work. Regardless of if the widget is open or closed thereafter, no matter what I click on I no longer get any info popups and have to reload the page to return to normal. The only thing I can think of is that it is loading an invisible graphics layer that is blocking the clicks and isn't removed at all. This is just a guess as I'm not exactly sure what is going on with the widget when it loads. This did not happen in 3.0. I have the latest widget and compiled it for 3.6 with no other changes. I realize that most people aren't using this widget but I was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction on what customization I could do to the widget to fix this, or just guess at what could be blocking the popup clicks. Something had to change between 3.0 and 3.6 to cause this. The creator is apparently no longer supporting the print widget so I can't ask him. I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks!

I experimented a little and am not finding the same results. A print export takes just as long when choosing PDF as JPG for me. I have one basemap layer and one map service as an operational layer. I've tried removing one or the other then doing a print and am seeing no change in the amount of time for the print. Turning particular layers on or off doesn't change anything either. What I found in the end though was that it appears to be the DPI. I had mine set at 250. When I set it to the default of 96, a print that had taken 30+ seconds, took only 5-7 seconds. I'd really rather use the higher DPI but it would seem that that is too much of a hindrance. Hopefully ESRI will take a look at the DPI related issues with the print widget. Let me know if you see the same results with a lowered dpi.

I have no tiled services. I do have dynamic services(2) with labeling but if I turn off the layers that are labeled, it makes no difference. I'll experiment with removing services/layers and see what happens. and for what it's worth, when using the pchPrintSOE widget, it prints in a few seconds for the same map extent/contents. (i would continue to use it but am having issues with it at 3.6 so I'm trying to go with the OOTB print)

At least I know I'm not the only one but yours is much worse if it takes minutes! Maybe there's a way to devote more server resources to a particular service?

well they should be connecting to your app via an external url not "internalservername" correct? or are you saying that when they are using your app via the external url, the resulting prints are using the internal url and therefore they get a not found error? If it's the latter, you probably need to set your print task url to use the external url and not the internal.

I'm finding that the OOTB print widget takes too long to generate the print. A letter-sized takes around 10 seconds and a tabloid-sized takes 20-25 seconds. When I create my own template, which has more map area on the print, it takes about 35 seconds for a tabloid-size. 10 seconds seems acceptable but anything more and it seems like there's something wrong from the end-user standpoint. I've been unable to find what might cause it to be so slow. Is everyone seeing their prints take this long? If not, what factors might be causing such a thing on my end? thanks

Agreed. They said it's in their bug list so I would hope that means it would be fixed at next release but I do not know.

After speaking with ESRI tech support... It is apparently a bug that they already have in the system, but there is an easy work-around. Apparently, the DPI setting in the print widget config needs to be below a certain threshold. I'm not sure exactly what that number is but it is somewhere below 275 DPI. I had mine set at 300. Once I lowered it to 250, the issue went away.

Have you ever found a solution to this? I am having the exact same issue (labels duplicating on vertical and horizontal axis in created print). My next stop will have to be ESRI support....if they even offer support for the flex app.

This isn't much help but in my map service I have the same layer (parcels) in it twice and when I turn them both on at the same time, I do not see the same issue you do. Does this happen when you do not select anything? When you remove other layers? Might help narrow down the culprit.
