Thanks for pointing that out Vangelo. Is their a list of tables used in 9.3.1 or even a comparison chart which shows the table name differences between version side by side? Kind regards Tim

Hi there I am deleting some domains. When I do they delete but I then get an error with a layer I am displaying. It says: Function ID is out of range [this appears something like 3 times in the dialogue box] I also then get an ArcMap Drawing error: One or more layers failed to draw: project: USER.layer_in_question: Bad connection handle Also after adding and or renaming domains, I find that when I wish to delete some of them or assign new ones to existing fields, they are not showing up. I find the only way to get them all to show up is to shut down ArcMap and reopen it. I am using ArcMap 10.1.1 with ArcSDE 9.3.1 and the data stored in Oracle 10.2g database. Kind regards Tim

Hi there I am trying to locate which fields domains are being used by. I am using ArcMap 10.1 but accessing a 9.3.1 geodatabase stored in an Oracle 10.2g database, There was a a script on the following page: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#//006z000000t9000000 However when ever I run it I get the error: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist 00942. 00000 - "table or view does not exist" It is for the table sde.gdb_items_vw which does not exist. Would anyone happen to know why it might not exist? I am trying to delete a domain but before I can do so, I need to remove it from a field but I need to see which field(s) are still referencing it. Kind regards Tim

Thanks for that. With domains I thought that just creates a list which is not much help as I am typing in many different things into the boxes that wouldn't be in the list. I do however use domains on other fields. Thinking about it, how does one add null to a domain. Surely typing in null or <null> would produce characters rather than null itself.

Thanks for your reply. As it happens I had read that previously. However that doesn't address how I am getting the characters '<Null>' and not null itself. As I mentioned previously I can use the field calculator to generate null but I don't wish to have to do that every time I have just 1 value that needs to be replaced. I can of course delete the values in the field but instead of then showing <Null> it just leaves the field blank. I prefer to see <Null> in every field whilst I am working, where <Null> exists. It is a minor point but I was interested if anyone else had noticed it. I wonder how many databases have the characters <Null> in them when the person viewing it, think it's null itself.

Hi there Has anyone else come across the following behaviour in ArcMap? When I am editing an attribute table in a Feature class, sometimes I need to replace a single value in a field with null. I will often do this by simply coping one of the other fileds ear by which has a null value in it. However I am finding that sometimes if I am pasting to a field which a a data type of text, it ends up storing the characters: <Null> rather than null itself. As ArcMap displays Null values as <Null>, it is impossible for me to know when this is happening. I then find I have to locate them using a select by attribute query and use the field calculator to replace them with null. Now I could use the field calculator all the time but using it for one value takes longer than it goes to simply copy and paste a near by null. I am using 10.1.1 but I find the problem occurs with any version of ArcMap I use from at least 9.3.1 onwards. Kind regards Tim

Hi there I am having a problem which may or may not be related to another thread in these forums [http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/64104-The-function-ID-is-out-of-range?p=268837#post268837]. I am trying to do an attribute join between two feature classes, contains a many to one relationship. One feature class contains polygon data and the other is point based. I made the target the polygon data, which is many and the point data, which is joining it is the one. The data itself is all held in Oracle 10g via and ArcSDE 9.3.1 geodatabase. I am using ArcMap 10.1.1. I created an attribute index on the polygon feature class. However as soon as I did the join I got a loading table data error message. After which the data would not display. Thinking it may be due to the fact the point data is being joined to the polygon, I exported just the attribute table into the SDE. However I got the same error message. Although this time the data did display. Contained in the error message was the line Missing raster band wavelength properties. I did a search on the forums on that but could find nothing about it. The full error dialouge box contained: Loading table data Could not load data from the data source. If you can correct the problem, press the refresh button to reload data. Possible problems can include bad network connection, invalid field, etc. Bad connection handle The function ID is out of range The function ID is out of range The function ID is out of range The function ID is out of range Missing raster band wavelength properities Missing raster band wavelength properities Missing raster band wavelength properities The function ID is out of range The function ID is out of range Kind regards Tim

I don't know if it has been fixed because I simply uninstalled PerfQA_Analyzer and haven't used it since.
