Mark, Not exactly an installation and configuration issue. And not a simple task. But some conceptual treatment on GIS SE http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/6412/generate-points-that-lie-inside-polygon Or, I'd look at dividing your polygon into equal areas and then using the centroid of each as location for your new point feature class. In http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/50238-Divide-Polygon-in-equal-areas they suggest using the Parcel Editor and divide by area. Moving this to the Editing forum where you might have more response. This is a response to a PM request about where tutorials for ArcHydro can now be found with the migration to a secure ftp service. Esriâ??s ftp server were moved to a hosted secure ftp site. New login details are in this post from the ArcHydro forum: http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/61799-ArcHydro-update-for-ArcGIS-10.1?p=255162&viewfull=1#post255162 Youâ??ll want to use something other than your web browser to access and download. Data for ArcHydro 2.0 Tutorial is in the /incoming/ArcHydro/Data/Tutorial directory Tutorial for ArcHydro 2.0 (ArcGIS 10.0) is in /incoming/ArcHydro/Doc/ArcHydro2_0 Read the useful PDFs in /incoming/ArcHydro/Doc/ArcHydro10_1 (ArcGIS 10.1) and /incoming/ArcHydro/Doc/ArcHydro2_1 (ArcGIS 10.0) No specific tutorial or data for 2.1 or 10.1 (ArcGIS 10.1) but the 2.0 tutorials can be followed once data is brought in with ArcCatalog, some adjustments for changes in the newer ArcHydro builds. For ArcGIS 10.1 you need to install ArcHydro 10.1 (current build 10.1.0.106), access from the secure ftp site as described here. 2.0 and 2.1 builds are for ArcGIS 10.0 Stuart

Carl, Have seen nothing posted, so guess its working great for everyone 😉 So, do you have a valid license for 3D Analyst activated? Do you have ANY Shapefile in use? Also, the current build of HEC GeoRAS for ArcGIS 10.0 is 10.0.0.53 (2012-12-07) -- what version are you using? Stuart

Did you verify you have 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst extension enabled and licensed? And, pretty helpful if you provide build and source information for your installed ArcHydro, GeoHMS and GeoRAS components.

No recent change. You need minimum of Desktop 10.0 ArcEditor level license with Spatial Analyst extension, 3D Analyst for working with TINs for surfaces. And a reminder of the new License level names: <10.0 >10.1

ArcEditor Standard

Mark, Simple answer is yes you can do it with just Spatial Analyst Hydrology toolset, but you'd find the free ArcHydro Tools extension easier for processing your DEM. You'll likely be generating a watershed feature as drainage area for input to your water equations, so you just need one small component of what ArcHydro can do. Either way you'll need some documentation of the concepts and processing steps. You can use the ArcGIS Desktop help articles (start here). But the help files delivered with ArcHydro Tools are probably the best reference for the processing you'll need to do. Unlike the ArcGIS Desktop Help, the ArcHydro Tools help is not online so you'd have to install the extension. So you'd need to install the current ArcHydro v 2.1.0.152 from the ftp site. Then either activate Spatial Analyst and the ArcHydro toolbar and closely read the Help. Or, once installed, the ArcHydro compiled HTML help can be read off line. The file is ARCHYDRO.chm located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Esri\WaterUtils\ArcHydro\bin folder. Read up, and post back if you need help with the processing sequence for your DEM either with Spatial Analyst or via ArcHydro Tools. Stuart

Pardosa, Even though authorized, you still need to enable each extension from the ArcMap Tools -> Extensions menu for use. Extensions are disabled by default. Each should be enabled when needed, and then disabled when not being used. Stuart

Christine, Thanks! Helps folks to know it was not their systems or a bad install attempt. Perhaps you could post up MD5 HASH values for the installers. Either here in the fourms, or as a README file posted up to the sftp server with the installers, so we (and you) can tell when there are issues with transfer of the installers. Stuart

Eliza, You don't give us much to work with regards how you've made your removal or installation attempts. But if I had to guess, I'd suspect you've a hardware issue in the mix... What operating system and hardware (CPU, Graphics, RAM)? Do you have administrators group access for your system? Have you run a disk diagnostic for your HDD? If using a DVD, have you run a diagnostic of the DVD reader? Did you verify the HASH value of the installation packages? Are you mounting a copy of the installer ISOs as a virtual disk? Is it a file local to the HDD? Are you attempting the install from a network share? Let us know, we may be able to help. Stuart

Tim, Does it behave if from the FileZilla Site Manager you set the port to 22 for the SSH service being used in the sftp connection? It may be incorrectly trying just port 443--since the url is https: Stuart

Tim, Yes it is working. For FileZilla you need to set your transfer protocol to SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol, and logon type to Normal. Best done from the FileZilla File -> Site Manager panel as a new site. OK will save configuration. Then Connect to run it. If using the Web client be sure JavaScript is enabled for the site, and for more efficient downloading check the box to use the Java Applet which provides a GUI based download. Stuart

Chris, You can download the tutorial data from the ArcGIS for Desktop Free Trial site. Login using your Esri Global account. You'll receive a new trial Authorization number which can be ignored (you've already authorized your seat of ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced), and you also will have access to download the installer for ArcGIS Tutorial Data for Desktop (~1.70 GB) for download. When downloaded and installed, the Network Analyst tutorial data will be installed along with data for all other tutorials. Default location is into C:\arcgis\ArcTutor You access the tutorial workbooks from the ArcGIS Desktop 10 Help -> Essentials Library found on your Windows start menu. Or, online at http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/00qn/00qn0000013t000000.htm Stuart

Rolf, Sorry, we know a reinstall can seem pretty drastic, but sometimes is the surest way. Unfortunately licensing and reactivation tend to discourage folks using Esri products from doing it more often. Stuart
