Bjorn, Is it me or is the flash api a little less functional? The api I'm currently using seems like it has much more.

Thanks, The users xml was just leftover garbage from previous testing. Nothing critical there. I will also check out the flash api, I hate having to use a proxy.

I've just posted a widget for leveraging Google's directions api. Download and enjoy, both compiled and uncompiled versions have been supplied. I've posted version 1 of the widget to get some comments and maybe see what additional functionality people may want. I have my own ideas but I'd like to get some feedback. Please remember to rate the widget if you like what you see. http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=20fc9fd1c43c45c5a1dbf8b4f03bee79

When you load your page set a fullExtent variable: private var fullExtent:Extent = new Extent(x,y,xx,yy,map.spatialReference); Then create a function to use that when you want thje full extent shown. Mine looks like this: private function mapfullExtent():void { try{ if (fullExtent !=null) { map.extent = fullExtent; }else{ navToolbar.zoomToFullExtent(); } }catch(err:Error){ } }

This would be more useful in the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex forum I agree to a certain extent. The code I put up transcends the sample viewer. This sample will work with any flex implementation. Cheers and enjoy.

Eddie, for each(addedGraphic in myGraphicsLayer.graphicProvider) { if (addedGraphic.hasEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK)==true) { addedGraphic.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, Graphic_Clicked); } } Rather that iterating the graphics to assign the eventlistener, you can add the eventlistener at the same time you first add the graphic to the graphicslayer. you can also do this by utilizing the graphicslayer event for "graphic added". Cheers

This is what I use: var sym:SimpleMarkerSymbol = new SimpleMarkerSymbol("circle",11,0xFF0000,1,0,0,0,new SimpleLineSymbol("solid",0xFFFFFF,1,1)); var uic:UIComponent = sym.createSwatch(16,16); The "uic" is what I use to show the icon. This works for SimpleMarkerSymbol, PictureMarkerSymbol, SimpleLineSymbol, SimpleFillSymbol.......

Thanks Robert, I was just looking at your Weather widget wondering why you didn't enter that in the challenge. I think it's pretty slick and will be adapting it for my non SFV based flex applications. Well done. Andy

My street view widget actually works on this premise. http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=f069d8a3aa304e29a432b48e5f64ca74 Have a look at the code I use for the drag and drop of the street view icon (PictureMarkerSymbol)

Eddie, Have you considered using the events of the graphic itself rather than iterating the graphicsLayer everytime? I typically use the mouse click event of my graphic to select it. This will be much more efficient when you start getting into more items on the graphicsLayer.
