You may check your compatibility settings ? I know when we went to sql 2017 we had to do some tweaks. You may want to have a meeting with everyone involved to determine your needs. One database may not be enough, in our environment we have a RO database for users / public to view and a RW database for users to edit. The edits are then synced every hour to the RO database. Every scenario requires different maintenance. What is your CRM ? theoretically if data is in a modern database ie sql, oracle, Informix etc you should be able to see information in a spatial view. We do this here at the City.
