If your If statement do return you do not need to use elif for example if a == 'Wicmico': return 1 if a == 'Cecil': return 2 Then it does not look so wrong.

If you are working with Express you should connect using Database Servers and then use left mouse to create New Geodatabase. Then you can do a Save Connection on the connect from Database Servers and it will create a connection in Database Connections Have Fun Mody

I am using ArcGIS Server 10.3.1 on windows. The tool is published and works. It just gives warning (level High) when I analyse before publishing. Looks like a bug to me.

Hello all I have a one line python script that looks like this: arcpy.CalculateField_management(r"DemandPoints1","from1",'"aaa"',"PYTHON_9.3") from1 is a text field in DemandPoints1 and I would like to put the value aaa in it. This script runs with no problem as tool (no parameters) in ArcMap but when I try to publish it as geoprocessing service I get: 24046: Tool <value> cannot use VB expressions for services There are many examples of complex calculations but I would like to make it simple!! Any ideas?

Hi First, check your services. If the service exists try to start it - many times it just works. If not try to publish again - many times it works for me. You can try to delete the original service and publish new service (not overwrite) but there is no problem with the overwrite option. Turn off the KML capability - less warnings. Try not to do other stuff on the machine while doing publishing. If you do not have a real problem in the server log then the publish should work. Have Fun Mody

In ArcMap you can find Define Projection GP tool that will do it. You need to know what is the correct spatial reference - no tool can find this for you. Have fun

I was thinking to check if the describe object has any of these properties but they will exists only if I describe the network itself and not any of the layers in it.

Hi all I need to scan a big directory of files and project all the feature classes that I find. Some feature classes are part of network (or topology) and cannot be projected. I could not find any way to find it using Describe. The featureType is Simple. Maybe ListDataset to find network then try to understand what layers are in this network? Thanks Mody

Hi Dan Pro have similar functionality to "Database connections" in ArcMap. "Database Servers" is similar name but very different functionality... Could not find it in Pro, It might be by design?

In ArcMap you have a "Database servers" connection where you can manage Sql Server Express, Create new geodatabase, manage users etc. Do you have anything like this in Pro? Thanks

It append for all computers and users. We are now trying to find a non production database that will show the same problem, then we can run some tests, debug, oracle trace etc. It is not simple to do any testing on production. Upgrade the database is planed but not soon... Thanks
