Just an update in case anyone else stumbles across this in the future: I changed our old certificate to the signed one and the problem resolved.

You have to set the Map Detail first. Once I switch the Map Detail view, the download button turns white and I can download it. I can also switch back to Work Area after clicking Map Detail and the download button will remain available.

I have setup my feature services to be editable, enabled sync, enabled editor tracking, enabled archiving, enabled globalIDs. I am using an ESRI basemap. My web map has "Offline" toggled on. I use my web adaptor to add services to the web map so the services appear in the web map on Collector. I can't figure out why my "Download" button is grayed out when trying to choose a work area. Note, I am talking about the download button after clicking the cloud icon. I can see the features and basemap, it just won't let me download it to my device.

Figured out the issue, even though it's probably not really the correct solution since in the documentation it states you can change the setting after publishing. For me, I couldn't overwrite the service with it enabled or change the setting on the Server, so I just published a new service from scratch and then I was given the option to enable it. Don't know why but it works.

I am using it on an enterprise geodatabase, the services are published to Server, and then I believe I should be able to use them on ArcGIS Online given this documentation on portal https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/use/enable-ownership-control.htm. You should be able to set up the ownership control when you either publish the service or after the fact (of which I can do neither because it's grayed out everywhere). So even if I can't see the settings on AGO (which I was unclear on so thanks for that), I should still be able to set it on Server, and I cannot.

I have enabled editor tracking on my feature service and when I go to overwrite the service, I still do not have the option to enable the ownership-based access control option (it is still grayed out). How do I get this to work? My workflow to get it on ArcGIS online goes like this: 1) Publish the service from ArcMap while logged in to AGO, under the "Sharing" property I share it to My Content. 2) Feature service shows up on AGO and when I view the item details > Settings there is no option for access control. 3) When I make a map with the feature service in AGO and view the item details > Settings, there is no option for access control. Do I need to have a user defined on my server for each person that will be using this web map in Collector? I currently don't, but I don't care if it shows up as ESRI_Anonymous, as long as they're only allowed to edit their own features, I'm fine.

I didn't change any of the directories where the services reside, so all the URLs should be fine (10.x is not included in any rest service URLs). I didn't end up needing to test the dummy layer, but thanks for the suggestion. I ended up doing this: I did do a backup/restore, but the restore failed, so what I did was run "Repair" on the ArcGIS Server program, once I did that, I was prompted to build a new site. I created the new site without having deleted my arcgisserver folder so the new site maintained all my services/users/roles (I think that's why, not 100% on that). When I created my new site, the connection with the web adaptor disappeared obviously, so I re-configured that and my services started showing up again. I'm really not sure what went wrong to begin with, but I'm happy it's working now!

I just updated our AGS and Web Adaptor (IIS) from 10.6 to 10.7. All of our web maps do not show any of our services and I can't figure out why. I can access the rest services page from both our web adaptor and the server machine. I can login to manager from our server machine and a non-server machine but using a specific URL instead of the web adaptor URL because we disabled admin access from the web adaptor. All services are running. I have attempted to restart the entire server and no change. We have a self-signed certificate but I don't think that should matter (we're working on getting a CA certificate) as that's what we were doing on 10.6 as well. I have validated the databases in manager. I have entered the new keycodes in desktop to make my SDE databases accessible. We are not using Portal. We had to do a silent install of the web adaptor and it was successful. We went through the setup program for AGS. The service I am testing with is a public service, but none of the secure ones work either. We upgraded AGS before upgrading the web adaptor. We uninstalled the 10.6 web adaptor before upgrading it to 10.7 Ran "Repair" on the installation which prompted me to build a new site (I had tried to restore after I couldn't get into manager anymore and it failed, so when I ran the repair I assume that's why it had me build a new site). I did that and it loaded up all my stuff probably because I didn't delete the arcgisserver directory before making the new site. I was able to access manager again. EDIT: So it looks like when I go to my rest service and look at the map service layers, nothing shows up, which would explain why I can't see anything on the web maps. How do I fix this? My Server Account has full permissions to everything. Really need some guidance here.

Good to hear, hoping to get this sorted today. I'm getting certificate errors in the console, so I *think* this will fix my problem.

Hi there, I know this post is super old, but I'm wondering if you figured out the solution was updating the certificate to one signed by a CA? I am having the same issue, error in the console is about the certificate being invalid, but I have suspicions that getting mine signed by a CA won't do the trick because I never trust ESRI's error messages not to be misleading...

While the jury is still out on whether this fixed the problem or not, I did finally realize that I was publishing my service from Desktop using a server administrator connection over port 6080 instead of over port 6443. So I was connecting to my GIS Server using a URL like this when publishing services: http://gisserver.domain.com:6080/arcgis/admin instead of this: https://gisserver.domain.com:6443/arcgis/admin When I started publishing services with the HTTPS server administrator connection, the "unable to establish a secure connection" error went away. I started getting a new error stating the layer cannot be added to the map (the layer doesn't load in the web map), but I'm hoping this is because we're using a self-signed certificate and we might just need to have it signed by a certificate authority to fix the issue. Hopefully...

I've read a bunch of threads on this and I *think* I know what will fix the problem for me, but I need to wait on someone else for that process to go through, so in the meantime I want to figure out if the solution I think will work, will work or if there is something else I need to do too. So, first off, I was getting an error about not being able to load the map content because it couldn't reach the service over HTTPS. I realized I was publishing the service using a server administrator connection over port 6080, so I published it with a server administrator connection over port 6443 and that error went away. Now I just get the error saying the layer can't be added to the map. When I look in the developer tools console, I get a message about certificate validity/trust, so I think if I just get our self-signed certificate signed by a CA, this problem might go away? The only thing that raises a red flag for me is that I can add the service manually to AGOL ("Add item from the web") using our web adaptor rest service URL (also https) and the layer will load into the web map fine. Is the web adaptor considered "trusted" to AGOL and thus can load the layer, even though the certificate on the server is not trusted? That's the only thing I can think of, otherwise I don't know why the web adaptor URL would work and publishing straight to AGOL using a raw server connection wouldn't. I would use the web adaptor URL method if it weren't for the fact that the domains and subtypes aren't maintained when adding services to a web map this way, and I need those as this web map will be used in Collector. The only way I've ever found domains and subtypes to be maintained is when publishing a service from Desktop directly to AGOL. So - signed certificate by CA an answer to all my problems or is there something else I need to be looking at?

We're also doing bird surveys and are experiencing the same annoyances. These surveys go FAST - it is imperative that we can drop points quickly, fill out their info, and then move on to the next bird heard. These do not need to be precise point locations, we just need a guesstimate. Since Collector Classic doesn't support arcade expressions, we don't want to use that one either. We are not collecting points where we are standing. We need a way to collect points quickly in collector - I am sure there are many others who are doing things outside of bird surveys that would need this functionality.
