This is more of a discussion than a question... With UN model, we have only 3 feature classes per domain; Junction, Device and Line to model the assets. Most of the "assets" will be either a Device or a Line. I understand that this is by-design for performance reasons. In traditional data modeling, we used separate feature classes for asset types e.g. Fuse, Switch, Circuit Break, Transformer, Service Connection, HV Conductor, LV Conductor, Busbar etc. for Electric Distribution model. Working with only two meaningful feature classes for some disparate asset types creates an under-normalised data model. It either creates a huge table with only a fraction of fields populated for any row or overloads fields for each subtype e.g. "Rating" attribute will be used as "KVA Rating" for a Transformer, "Load Break amps" for Fuse, "Maximum current" for a Regulator and so on. Some of the clients I work with tend to store electrical characteristics for devices and lines in GIS e.g. impedance and reactance for transformer etc. With separate field for each classification and sub-classification will easily create a table with more than 250 fields, not a best option from DBA point of view or we have to use generic fields such as "AttributeA", "AttributeB" etc. and then give alias (configure pop-up) in each layer which is time consuming exercise in the least not mentioning the heartache it gives to a data modeler. It seems that Asset Package 3.x has tried to address the issue by creating related tables for devices and line wires. But it is still only two related tables. Will it be better to create a related table for each subtype e.g. Fuse Unit, Transformer Unit, Switch Unit, HV Conductor Wire etc. This way Device and Line feature class only stores network attributes and symbology attributes and individual tables stores electrical and EAM attributes for that type. It seems doable but have following questions; Can related tables participate in defining tracing? E.g. stop a trace if transformer KVA rating exceeds certain value or sum impedance of all lines traced. Does UN editing support adding attributes to related tables? Can data in related table be updated in client-server mode instead of Web Service mode? Can "Export Subnetwork" export attributes from a related table? All comments and suggestions welcome... Thanks, Vish

Hi Anthony, The error "Invalid Arcade Expression" during Apply Asset Package got fixed when I upgraded my Pro to v2.3.3 with UNTools site package v2.3.1. I was using GDA 94 Zone 55 coordinate system. See the thread at https://community.esri.com/message/855695-re-applying-waterdistributionassetpackage-fails?commentID=855695&et=watches.email.thread#comment-855695 I also found that sometimes I get error during Apply Asset Package in ArcGIS Pro. Not sure if there is a degree of parallelism in how the steps are run. Every run failed at different locations. I found the python code is extracted in \\AP_Workspace\Scripts folder where asset package is located. There is a script called all_calls.py. If I run this manually from command prompt, it seem to work OK. Cheers, Vish

Hi, I have a client who has implemented ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.1 with Active Directory integrated named users. The Web Adaptor with Windows Authentication is placed in front of the Portal to provide automated log-in experience. Client now wants to use ADFS as SAML compliant identity provider. However, client wants to retain IWA-like user experience that is all domain users logged-in automatically when accessing the Portal. My understanding is with ADFS, users will still need to provide their domain username and password on Enterprise Log-in page. This is not a true Single Sign-On experience rather a Same Sign-On experience. Is there a way to achieve automated log-ins with ADFS? Does it require some configuration at ADFS level? Thanks, Vish

Apparently, BUG-000120763 caused this issue. I just updated to ArcGIS Pro 2.3.3 and Apply Asset Package tool from untools v2.3.1 worked successfully. I now have UN Electric Transmission and Distribution domains in Australian projected coordinate system. Cheers, Vish

David Hoy I have been using Web Mercator coordinate system and had worked. Now that my electric customer has signed the project, I urgently need to get the UN working in GDA94 Zone 55 coordinate system. Did you find the workaround? Paul LeBlanc, is this issue specific to the coordinate system we are using or due to not having data in certain feature classes or both. I did not get this error when I tried with the same asset package but Web Mercator coordinate system. So confused what I need to fix it. Regards, Vish

Hi, I have a client who has a requirement in UNME to trace from the Transmission Subnetwork Controller to a customer service connection or meter. This is tracing from the most upstream point in the electric network to the most downstream tracing point. As I understand, UNME traces such as Downstream Stream etc work on one domain at a time but can trace through multiple tiers. The model in UNTools 2.0.1 has Distribution and Transmission as two separate domains. I am wondering if there is a Utility Network Asset Package available with Electric Distribution and Transmission assets combined in a single domain? Cheers, Vish

Hi George, I have been able to publish a Utility Network to ArcGIS Enterprise as feature services using Branched Version, have been able to create new versions, perform edits, reconcile and post to DEFAULT etc. So all working so far with DBO owned schema. It seems that owner of the DEFAULT branch version is "hardcoded" as SDE, like a keyword without a need for this user/owner to exist in the database. I just want to know if DBO owned EGDB is supported for Branch Versioning and something is not going to bite me later in the production system. Cheers, Vish

Hi, I have an Enterprise Geodatabase in SQL Server 2016 and I am building Utility Network using ArcGIS Pro 2.2. My geodatabase is created as DBO owned schema and not as SDE owned schema. When I set geodatabase connection properties with versioning type set to Branch, it sets the version name as DEFAULT and owner as "SDE" and does not let me choose different owner. I do not have SDE log-in or SDE user in the SQL Server database. Will any functionality be affected if I start using branch versioning without SDE user in the database? Cheers, Vish

Hi UN Team, I am trying to build Electric Utility Network for a client here using Electric Asset Package with no changes. I get an error in Apply Asset Package that I cannot figure out how to fix. So not sure why "Table is already locked" unless there is some race condition in the tool. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Rich, Thanks for your reply. Where can I get this beta workbench? I have used FME / Data Interop for some time and have reasonable understanding. Have used SchemaMapper transformer to perform most source to destination ETL for feature classes, table and attributes including splitting features based on attributes, merging features etc. With UN model, the data needs to be in Asset Package first in correct format and haven't mastered the Asset Package nuances just yet. And as always, there is a pressure to get the data in UN model quickly, So was wondering if I could use any pre-cooked models. Cheers, Vish

Adding on to David Hoy's comments, I am finding it is not trivial to simply rename existing asset group names, asset type names, domain names etc. We in Australia/NZ follow different naming conventions in Electric Dist and Transmission industry. Anything above 66kV is considered "Transmission" voltage, anything between 1kV and 66kV is called "High Voltage" and anything below is considered "Low Voltage" as opposed to North American terminology of High, Medium and Low voltages. Also, we use "Feeders" and "Sub feeders" and not "Circuits". I am trying to reset Electric Distribution and Transmission Asset Package to ANZ standards and it has been a bit of work. I wonder if there is any way to do this quicker rather than going through every A_, B_ and C_ table and domains in the Asset Package. Cheers, Vish

Hi, I am looking for a Data Interop migration tool for Electric Transmission and Distribution as mentioned in the http://proceedings.esri.com/library/userconf/proc18/tech-workshops/tw_1771-55.pdf We have Electricity Distribution and Transmission lines and devices data in a Geometric Network and some relationship tables similar to "Containment" and "Attachment" associations. We would like to build a Utility Network with all 5 rule types and wondering if there is Work Bench or Data Interop tool available? At this time, we are not looking to build terminal level connectivity. Thanks, Vish
