Certainly! Our landowner assistance biologists perform site visits in the field many times with a landowner present. So they must be attentive and not spend too much time on their phone or notepad. They recommend management practices for the landowner based on wildlife objectives, so one 50-acre portion of a large parcel may need site prep, prescribed fire and tree planting, all of which are polygon feature data hosted in AGOL and collected on the app. We currently have about 11 practices and often then overlap on the same area. The biologist starts collecting the feature, either by walking or driving and then complete the form. We are looking for a way in Collector to copy the site prep feature at this same location and paste it into prescribed fire feature layer (at the same location) so that its form could be populated, and so on for the tree planting. Ultimately we will be mapping or accounting for landowner area managed by each type of practice and how it corresponds to fish and wildlife habitat. Often, staff may be able to grab one feature in the field and then finish the work in the office and at that time of course, copy/paste functionality in the AGOL platform would be preferred. Thank you and I hope this helps. I will follow up by going back to the thread you mentioned. Hi Colin, thank you again for your reply to my questions about Collector. Why would the new Collector not retain the functionality of the Classic Collector? There seems to be several posts asking for this functionality. And yes the tech article was dated but it was the only one I could find. I don't want to have my folks trace over anything multiple times and this is almost ready to deploy for training, with screen shots in a guide etc.So, I would rather not go that way unless I have to. It would by far be easier for them to do the editing in AGOL, but the only thing I've found so far is the smart editor widget in the web app builder ((https://community.esri.com/ideas/13937-select-copy-and-paste-feature-in-webapp-builder?commentID=70656#comment-70656). My goal is to keep this as simple as possible of course since these guys are going from paper in the field and tabular data to this. If there is an easier way in AGOL through the edit function, then please point me in the right direction! Thank you so much. Kristal

Our team uses Apple devices at this time for our field work and we are still refining our workflow with Collector. I have been trying to follow the technical article described in https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000017946 to copy/paste existing features to another feature layer. I have only been able to get this to work one time and cannot replicate it. My interface is not exactly the same as shown on the tech article but we are using the new Collector. The examples I have provided as attachments show that when I select a boundary of a property (Attach 1) the copy option appears and it will allow me to continue to select from a list of other feature layers in my map. But when I select the other features (2nd attachment) I get a different copy option which takes to me to a capture point. Our normal workflow is to search for the property we are working on and then select the portion of the property being managed. This is what we need to copy for other management practices. I hope this makes sense. Enabling this feature until I get a web app set up will greatly improve the efficiency of our work flow. Otherwise our guys will be creating features over and over again. I appreciate your help.

Hi Amber, I ran across your post today about using Smart Editor and this potentially could save our folks alot of time in the field! I just ran through a test this evening and on the first trial of copying a polygon feature and pasting it to another feature class, it worked famously! I am not sure why my "create" template looks a little unorganized but I guess it's not a big deal at the moment. It won't let me resize the window. We are using Collector in conjunction with this webmap/app but I'm thinking any copy/pasting would need to be done in AGOL only and that there is no functionality in Collector. That's not a problem, but just thinking about workflow. Any tips you have had with the back and forth between mobile and desktop would be appreciated. This is so very helpful! Thank you! Kristal

Hi Colin, you are correct but I would feel worse if it hadn’t been for our staff having done the same thing, and not taking the next step. I guess I am very glad it was as simple as this! I do appreciate you responding! Thank you so much. I usually try to make things way too hard but this takes the cake. LOL!

In follow-up to the conversation at Collector - unable to search through feature details, I have only been able to successfully enable the search function by layer to work within AGOL. This is a non-editable layer among many other editable layers in a web-map used for a wide data collection region. The search by landowner name is critical to our operation and we only need to search this one layer. It just will not work in Collector. You can see from the attached screen shot that Collector is reading the setting by layer "Use Landowner's Last Name" and the layer is turned on (although I don't think this matters), but the results shown in Search 2 are not appropriate for this layer. Can anyone suggest what's going on here? Thank you!!

I have this same question on multiple hosted editable feature layers. I would like for our staff to be able to modify the creation date and editor date and do not want to create additional fields, without deleting these locked ones first. Can someone help with this? Thank you!

Thank you, Javier. I have recently taken over management of this data and have recommended that we use file geodatabases vs personal geodatabases. So, since these errors have occurred, I will be moving in that direction. While our administrator is hoping to achieve an opportunity for us to move to an enterprise platform soon, we don't have that capability at present. Your feedback has been very helpful, thank you!

I can migrate it but there are still about 300 missing records. I've tried two different month's .mdbs and now going back to September to try to reload everything forward. Are there any best practices for sharing these .mdb over a network? Any known problems with new versions of Arc with .mdbs? We are just at a loss. Thank you.

Hi, can someone help me identify the source of this problem please? Each month I consolidate data in an .mdb and share it on a network drive. Our .mdb is way short of the personal geodatabase max limits so this should not be an issue and we have been using this method for years with no problems until the last 2 months. Now we are getting intermittent "failed to connect to database and unrecognized database format" errors. Our staff are working on various versions of ArcMap desktop from 10.3 to 10.7. The .mdb was in 9.2 and I have upgraded it but there are missing records when I try to export it. The upgrade did not seem to help but I've tried export to shape, .gdb, etc. but always get the same number of records upon export with a significant number missing. There are some old posts about repairing this in Access. Is this still the case? Anyone have any other ideas? I also have read where there might be some MS 32-bit vs Arc 64-bit conflicts but I need to retrieve the data from the .mdb. Thank you!

Kylie, I have been reviewing all the posts about this issue. I similarly have been preparing staff for using the new Collector to begin implementation December 1 and all of a sudden I have "offline areas" when connected to wifi. We all use iPhone 7s currently. I also do not see the offline tab in my web map settings so I cannot even try to download areas to see if this will work. Many of my hosted feature layers have subtypes but only one date field. Until 2 weeks ago, this was all working great in the office and in the field. #kylie donia

Thank you Peter. All group members are also editors and therefore I have just one group. They do work offline and know how to download their maps for use in the field. I think sometimes I am not sure which to reference, AGOL documentation or Collector. I want to make sure that the planning layer can accept new property boundaries that are created but edits within those boundaries occur in a separate layer, so a copy of that layer that is synced for the field in other words. I've got some work to but this information certainly helps.
