Really appreciate it. On a different tack, could I have the pdf saved to the server somehow and thenhave the file be made available to the user as any pdf file would be (as if they had clicked a link to a pdf download)? UPDATE: that wouldn't work either.

Are you sure you need to be sending custom HTTP headers when using navigateToUrl() in your flex widget? There might be a way to do it without using those HTTP headers? Mind posting the relevant code where you are using navigateToUrl() with AlivePDF? Here is more of the error: SecurityError: Error #3769: Security sandbox violation: Cannot send HTTP headers when using navigateToUrl(). at global/flash.net::navigateToURL() at org.alivepdf.pdf::PDF/save()[/Users/adobe/Desktop/AlivePDF/src/org/alivepdf/pdf/PDF.as:3495] at components.printing::PrintSetupWindow/sendPrint() The line in my code at 319 is: myPDF.save(Method.REMOTE, pdfGeneratorURL, Download.ATTACHMENT, "lcGisMap.pdf"); The alivepdf code at line 3495 is not available to me as that is within the alivepdf binary library. As far as i can tell, I'm not explicitly sending custom headers but that doesn't mean something isn't going on within the alivepdf code.

UPDATE: Looks like the culprit is the newest Flash Player (13.....214). Looking to see if I can add anything to the crossdomain.xml file to fix this. Any ideas big or small are welcome. 😉 Also, this isn't just IE but Firefox as well. Chrome has it's own built in Flash player so it may or may not be affected.

I've got a suite of Flex/AGS based apps hosted locally that have been running for years. In the past day or so, I've been getting the following sandbox security error ONLY in IE browsers: SecurityError: Error #3769: Security sandbox violation: Cannot send HTTP headers when using navigateToUrl(). Here is our crossdomain.xml file: http://maps.larimer.org/crossdomain.xml The error only occurs when you try to use our alivepdf printing process (which again has worked with no issues for years). I realize this isn't an esri issue but I'm hoping there is some expertise on board here that could lend a hand. As it is, all my pdf creation capabilities are dead in the water for IE until I can resolve this issue. If you go to maps.larimer.org/lil and click the "pdf" button, then "create pdf", the progress bar will either just hang or you'll get the above flash error. The pdf creation process works just fine in Firefox and works occasionally on Chrome (but chrome has a separate pdf issue not related to this). Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated. I've exhausted all my resources on this one. Thanks, -Royce

This morning I setup all new feature classes with all the appropriate settings (global ID's, none versioned archiving, attachments, editor tracking). I created an MXD, published the MXD with feature access (with sync enabled). Created a map in AGOL, added the feature service, shared the map, enabled offline mode. Pulled the map up on Collector. Downloaded the map. Added a point feature with picture attachment. Synced the map. Error syncing. Same error as above. The test point feature did make it back to our database but the sync won't complete on the device without throwing that error. Not sure what else I can try or do.

Also are you using server 10.2.2 ? Thanks Russ Yes, using server 10.2.2. See attached for debug level log at time of sync error. Thanks.

1) Can check to make sure in the GDB that attachments are configured properly (globalids + NV archiving) 2) Are you seeing this error every time time they sync where the upload an attachment? If so, can they send the debug server logs? 3) What DBMS are they using? What is the release info (GDB release, sever release ?? all 10.2.2?) Thanks Russ 1) Global IDs... check. Archiving enabled on non versioned feature dataset... check. 2) Yes, every time we sync. Can edit with attachments when in "online" mode just fine. When in offline mode, sync when attachments are present = fail. Yet, we do see the data + the attachment make it through to SDE. See my previous post for server log. We get the same server log entrys every time we try to sync an edit that has attachments. 3) Oracle 11.2.0.2 11g. SDE 10.2 (not 10.2.2).

Have you been able to repro the crash on any other Android devices? For the sync failures can you enable debug logging on the server and send me the logs when you try to sync a feature? Thanks Russ Hi Russ, In terms of the crashing... no. I've only tested it on three Android devices, two LG G2 Verizon and one Samsung Note 10.1. My G2 is the only one that crashes constantly right after I click a feature template to start editing. For log see attached screenshot. Would you like more fine grained log?

Got Collector up and running on a simple map with one points, lines and polys feature service hosted by our in house ArcGIS Server. Have attachments, editor tracking turned on. Got all my global ID's setup. Got everything setup, checked for "offline editing". Couple issues: 1) I can't seem to edit any features, either connected or offline, with my LG G2 Verizon Android phone. Every time I click the point, line or poly feature that I want to create, the app force closes. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the app always with the same force close results. 2) On devices that are able to edit (create, delete, update) features, such as our iPad an my coworkers lg g2 verizon android phone, we are able to do all edit operations if no photo attachment is created. If we do add a photo attachment, submit, and then try to sync our changes (when offline) an error is thrown stating that there was an error syncing. However, if I look at the actual feature service, the edits do in fact make it to our SDE database, including the attachment record. Not sure why we get the sync error.

The option to keep an existing cache should be added back at 10.3. Ok, good to know. Thanks for the info.

I can't reproduce this at 10.2.1; if you republish a service and choose the option to update cache automatically, it'll recreate tiles in the same cache folder. If you choose the option to update cache manually, it should only create a new folder within the cache directory with the service name and timestamp. This behavior is described here. At 10.2, the options were a bit different. If you overwrite a service you have two options through the publishing wizard to keep the cache or overwrite the cache. Unchecking the option to keep the cache will create a new folder within the cache directory with the service name and timestamp, per the information here. Any behavior other than that, for example a new service is created with the timestamp appended to it when overwriting, could be a bug. Why was this changed from 10.1 to 10.2.x? At 10.1 if you overwrite a cached map service, you had the option to keep the existing cache (very beneficial for us). At 10.2.x, that option is no longer available so when you overwrite, a new cache folder is made and you either need to recreate the cache on the spot or copy the cache from the timestamped cache folder into the newly created cache folder. We run our cache updates every 2 weeks and each one takes 14+ hours. There are many cases where we want to republish an mxd but keep the existing cache and just wait until our biweekly caching process redoes the cache after hours. Is there any way at 10.2.x to specify during the republishing process to keep the existing cache in place?

Royce: You said: PS - I'm on the web app builder beta and although it is pretty cool and easy to work with, it will need to grow 1000% to make it any better of an option than just using AGOL maps. Did you get an E-mail invitation? I ask because I read that it was supposed to be released on 3/28/14, but I have been able to access the beta site yet. I just signed up in the esri beta site a while back. Got an email invite a couple days ago. (Hope I'm not breaking any beta program agreement by stating these things... if so, I can delete).

I've been actively developing in Flex/esri ags Flex API since 2009. I love it. It allows the developer/gis pro to get past the coding learning curve and get right down to the bass tacks of creating cool sites. Shouldn't it be that way? Now, I'm digging more and more into html/js/css and am realizing what a sucky transition it is. Html/js/css is like the wild west. There are 20 different libraries, frameworks, etc. that actually do little to assist in truly making it easier for devs to create cool UX sites. Every Tom, Dick and Harry JS dev has their own MVMVMMMCCCC****** framework that is being touted as the next killer thing. And let's not get into the whole text editor/IDE roundabout discussion. In my opinion, the dust really needs settle on the html/js/css world for me to really fall in line (and it may never settle). Web devs really hate the plugin. I get it but now, us Flex devs are faced with world of 20 different browsers with 20 different versions, all needing attention in the code. Html/js devs are totally cool with all this. I find it totally wacky but am faced with the reality that I need to assimilate or perish. Fug it. Time to start learning html/js/css/angular/ember/brackets/notepad++/typescript/grunt/dojo/leaflet/knockout/backbone/marionette/webstorm/bootstrap/responsiveDesign/node.js/this/that/theOther No problem, sign me up! Can't wait to make map apps like I did in Flex! Oh what fun! There, I'm done whining. Now, back to that Jasmine demo. 😉 Good luck all. PS - I'm on the web app builder beta and although it is pretty cool and easy to work with, it will need to grow 1000% to make it any better of an option than just using AGOL maps.

Mike, Can you also have a look at the "featured maps" area not displaying the maps? That area below the blue line comes up blank about 90% of the time. I should see about 5 "featured maps" in that area and they are public. Thanks, -Royce
