There isn't a way to do this within the map tool, but keep in mind, the filters on here are purely visual and do not influence other widgets (unless you are using map extent as a data source). One thing that came to mind would be creating a different dashboard for each of them, with only the relevant information each would need for their area/KPI. You could organize them into a map series with each on separate tab.

Which filter do you have to enable everytime? The map toolbar, or something else? By default, the map tools filter will show all features: Also, you can set a filter as a data source within a widget (bar chart, summary, etc) and this should not need to be changed once the view is saved. Thanks, Chris

Hi Joe, In the desktop Operations Dashboard views, the limitation is that only one data source can be used. For this data source, it can be shown as features, attributes or feature counts. Have you tried using the new Operation Dashboard (beta)? In the serial charts, you can use the new Grouped Values for category, which may cut down on the number of filters you need to get the results. Let me know if you have any questions! Chris

Hi Todd, There isn't a way to set this up because it's controlled by the webmap properties. When you save your operations view, it's stored in the org as an view. The view item does not have the ability to store that kind of information... As we are gearing up for the next version of Operations Dashboard, this might be something that we could look into, but only if the dashboard item properties (or similar) would allow it. Thanks, Chris

Hi Merrisha, In regards to the core product: We don't have this in the currently released Operations Dashboard desktop, but it's something we can look at including in the new one in development. I haven't seen any custom ones made, since you would need a custom map widget, but it might be possible by creating a custom JavaScript widget for the app. Thanks for the feedback! Chris

Is it just happening with one particular map? I wonder if there's a data source/ layer in there that could be causing the issue? If you get an error report from Windows on the crash, can you send it?

HI Adam, I can certainly understand your frustration and from working in technical support for 8 years here at Esri, I know how much even the smallest bugs can influence and disrupt customers. In this new Operations Dashboard, we want to get it right the first time, with many new enhancements and bug fixes from the old dashboard we've made along the way. There's a lot of platform limitations that we started running into with the WPF, and there was a clear need to move into a more fluid implementation that can easily adapt to changes in the ArcGIS platform, as well as the technology changes that come with maintaining software. We've had a lot of great feedback so far with the beta, and if there's things that we could do better, we definitely want to hear it. I would encourage experienced and novice dashboard users to take a look, and start building new dashboards, even if it's just to see what's changed and what we can improve upon. Thanks, Chris

Thank you for the video, that certainly helps with troubleshooting the issue! What you are seeing here, again, it's a limitation of the WPF platform. It has no understanding of the javascript symbols or expression, so it uses default symbology on the map. Also, the legend works, only because it's fetching the image from your webmap. As you also saw, there was no problem in the browser version, because it's using the same javascript library as the webmap. All of these 'platform' limitations have been addressed in our new beta app. If you haven't already, I would encourage you to join the beta and start building your own dashboards in the browser. We have seen tremendous feedback on it and look forward to the future of the product. Thanks!

The labels will not work in the desktop version because of the known limitation of it's framework. We encourage users who want to show labels to build their dashboards with the browser version in mind, or to switch to using our new Operations Dashboard, in which you can author in the browser. More details about that here and here. Thanks! Chris

Hi Edward, There's some documentation resources we've made available on the beta site to help customers get started and to show some of the many things you can do with these new dashboards: Overview of how to author a dashboard Best practices for authoring webmaps Best practices for creating dashboards Let me know if you have any other questions on them. Thanks! Chris
