Even I am facing the same problem, Any suggestions on changing the font/font-size of the legend and the text symbols that are displayed in the map ? You need to create your own print layout template and add it to the print service to change the font and other map components. JavaScript doesn't have the ability to change them.

"layers" property is for dynamic layers, not for controlling to exclude/include sub layers in the printout. In short, if there is no dynamic layers in the map, "layers" shouldn't be used. For more information about dynamic layers, please visit: http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapi/javascript/arcgis/help/jsapi_start.htm#jsapi/dynamiclayerinfo.htm

Did you mean snapping stops working completely, or not working with those invisible layers? Snapping only works with visible layers. It is by design.

exportOptions control output size and dpi, which shouldn't affect the scale dependency. There is a parameter "preserveScale", please make sure it's been set as true.

When you call dojo.require("esri.dijit.Measurement"), it should include all the required module automatically. So you don't have to call those requires again. Just for your information, here is the list of the required. dojo.require("dijit._Widget"); dojo.require("dijit._Templated"); dojo.require("esri.map"); dojo.require("esri.geometry"); dojo.require("esri.symbol"); dojo.require("dojo.parser"); dojo.require("dijit.layout.ContentPane"); dojo.require("dijit.Menu"); dojo.require("dijit.form.Button"); dojo.require("esri.tasks.geometry"); dojo.require("esri.WKIDUnitConversion");

Alan, You only need to set the visibleLayer as [1]. When creating the print widget, assign the esri.tasks.PrintTemplate.layoutOptions.legend as an array of esri.tasks.LegendLayer objects. Hope this helps.

Alan, Print service essentially is a GP service. If the JavaScript PrintTask doesn't meet your needs, just use the print service as a regular GP service by sending all the required parameters. Here is the do of using print service as a GP service directly. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/rest/apiref/gp_exportwebmaptask.html But it might not be easy to construct a webMapJson. So I suggest to utilize the printTask to generate the json by calling printTask._getPrintDefinition(map). It retuns an the webmapJson object. Then, you can modify it before sending it to the print GP service. Hope this helps.

When creating the textMarkerSymbol, please use number, instead of string to define the font size. For example: new esri.symbol.Font("12pt").setWeight(esri.symbol.Font.WEIGHT_BOLD) replace it as: new esri.symbol.Font(12).setWeight(esri.symbol.Font.WEIGHT_BOLD) Please let me know if this helps.

legendLayers should be an array of esri.tasks.LegendLayer, which has the property of "layerId" and "subLayerIds". So the correct way to send legendLayers is: var legendLayer = new esri.tasks.LegendLayer(); legendLayer.layerId = "Boundaries"; legendLayer.subLayerIds = [0, 5]; And then, legendLayers: [legendLayer]
