Maybe try to delete your normal.mxt template first: ArcGIS Desktop Look at the last couple paragraphs here. I haven't experimented much with 8.1 and dual monitors, but if ArcMap is not sticking to one monitor or the other each time you open and you haven't changed anything I would suspect ArcMap rather than monitor settings. Check in there anyway and make sure nothing funky is checked, just extend desktop to 2nd monitor and make sure 1 and 2 are where you want them...I found this quote and maybe it's related: I had a similar issue and was able to resolve it by turning on the: "Let me choose one scaling level for all of my displays" feature under the display settings. People in the comments were complaining about small type, fuzzy, and 4k similar to what you're describing...good luck!

I am working with a "xyz.tin" file that was exported from GMS along with a .prj file - how do I get this into ArcGIS TIN format to add nodes/modify etc. - and then I guess how do I export back to .tin format - anyone ever do this before? I'm probably missing something simple here...thanks!

Seems like there is only an idea page ArcGIS Idea - Ability to save .mxd and .lyr files into a geodatabase at this time, nothing that's built into ArcGIS. Maybe someone form ESRI could comment on any successful versioning processes they've seen in the wild used successfully? I've heard good things about Subversion, but haven't used it personally - I think third party tools would be kind of a headache to integrate, but that's just me - I guess it depends on how critical it is for your workflow.

Seems like 2/3 of the bullets work , but then if you click the next one it'll boot you to ESRI online log-in...are there layers on those specific bullets/pages that are not shared publicly?

I'm wondering if a certain process is possible and am having a little trouble finding a clear answer. I've used one of the default web mapping app templates (the recent "basic viewer") and loaded some points from csv to create a web mapping application on arcgisonline. Is it possible now for a non-GIS worker to open this data in Excel and use Maps for Office to modify the info/links in the popups and then have the web mapping app get updated with this new info? This web mapping app is not hosted on our servers, but is on arcgisonline and I'm wondering if that somehow limits what we can do, what I'm reading vaguely defines what is possible when apps are hosted vs. not, it's a little confusing. Seems like this should be pretty straightforward, I feel like I'm missing something fundamental here...thanks for any thoughts!

I recently utilized the basic viewer template for a webmap application with AGO. I noticed something strange with the "Share" tool, the icon doesn't appear in the toolbar located in the upper right navigation pane...anyone else notice this? Note the other icons are visible home, background layers, measure, details, etc. When I hover over the tool the shadow is activated, the tool is there, and the tool functions as it should on the right side of the map but... I still don't see the icon... Thanks!

Ah - that explains it, some of what I was reading in various threads etc. must be referring to those earlier times/pop-ups - thanks for the info! That's exactly what I needed to know.

Hi Katy - Ok, so let's say I used one of the default webapp templates for arcgisonline and uploaded the "app" to my arcgisonline account (so it's "ESRI hosted" vs. being on our own servers) - could I insert functioning hyperlinks into the popups in this scenario? Specifically I would like to point them to SharePoint file locations so a client could click on one of their reports and view - is that possible? Or do I have to load all of these pdfs to the cloud as documents? Thanks!

Hi Sam - no I haven't found a more elegant solution to searching/replacing...I would think there's a programmatic solution, but I don't have that much experience - anyone?
