Hi Imran, Next week, hopefully Monday, we will be releasing a beta 2 of the Quartz release, which will have this support in it. If you are using 10.2.4 or Quartz beta 1, this capability is not there. We really hope you'll get a chance to try out this upcoming release on Monday to see if this capability meets your needs. Let us know. Thanks.

Feature layers from shapefile feature tables will not honor custom spatial references. This is a limitation at the current 10.2.x versions of the SDK.

Are you trying to run on a VM? Or RoteDesktop? This error message indicates that either DirectX or the proper opengl and shaders are missing. What version of the Runtime are you using? Can you send along the output of dxdiag? Thanks

Hi Adam, Sorry for the delay. You can order 10.2 from Customer Service. Just ask for part number 138115, even though it also has WPF (cough), it is in stock and ready to order. Helps?

You're on the right track with #3. Local MBTiles | ArcGIS for Developers is a pretty good example of what I think you're trying to do.

ArcObjects is a strong, mature technology, and it is still supported. However, we strongly encourage the use of the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java for your new projects. You will no longer see enhancements or new innovations going into the ArcObjects SDKs. All of our development energies are now fully focused on building the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java product. ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java is the modern architecture for Esri's Web GIS directions and futures. Is there complete functional parity between ArcObjects and ArcGIS Runtime today? No. Is it our goal to reach functional parity? Yes! As the upcoming Quartz releases of ArcGIS Runtime for Java progress, our main goal is to bridge these functional gaps so that existing Engine developers can plan their migration to Runtime. ArcObjects SDKs for .NET and Java on Windows will continue to be supported, for the legacy of existing applications. However, ArcObjects on LINUX will have its final release at version 10.4.1, due to be out at the end of May 2016. This means that the Linux versions ArcObjects SDKs for C++ and Java will stop being supported around 2022. ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java works very well with Linux today, and we plan to continue expanding the platforms that the ArcGIS Java SDK supports. I hope this helps!

Well, the future of Desktop add-ins will be .NET, so your hunch is probably a good one. All the best! Eric

Hello Bernhard, It looks like you're mixing 2 different Java SDK products: ArcObjects and Runtime. An easy trap to fall into, unfortunately. ArcObjects is what is used to create Add-ins for ArcMap. So you were on the right track there. Do not use the Runtime Eclipse plugin for this. There is an Eclipse plugin for ArcObjects in C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\DeveloperKit10.4\java\tools\eclipse_plugin. For Dockable window and Add-ins, you'll need to use this one. Make sense?

Hi Nicolas, ArcObjects SDK for Java is only compatible with the 32-bit JVM. No getting around this, unfortunately. However, ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Java DOES work with the 64 bit JVM. (Or 32).

Yes. The fact that an EDN subscription is NOT required is true for all ArcGIS Runtime SDKs, across the board.

Hi Kris, Just to add to Hannah's excellent response: If you require a lot of your business logic to be in C++, it makes a lot of sense to use the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Qt. This SDK is specifically designed for this use case, and is very intuitive and rich for C++ developers. AppStudio was not designed for this use case of using C++ as your back end. Keep an eye on the Quartz release of ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Qt: This will support the development of your UI/UX with QML, allowing the back end business logic to be written in C++. And that will be supported on all platforms: Windows/Linux/Mac/iOS/Android.
