Hello, all, With Pro, the bundle adjustment process for higher spatial accuracy is added into Mosaic Dataset workflow, which contains two major functions like automatic generation of GCP & Tie Points among overlapping images. Have you tried automatic generation of GCP & Tie Points in MD? How do you feel about the efficiency and accuracy, in particular, compared with manual collection of GCPs and Ties in traditional bundle adjustment? Do you think that it will be helpful, without manual involvement during collection of GCP and Ties? How to integrate automatic generation of GCP & Tie Points with manual collection of GCPs and Ties in the workflow ? Please leave your comment, if any done.

tommy, I guess, Pro team may help to anwser. In my understading, however, the workscopes for ArcGIS Pro are fully different from desktop ArcGIS. Certainly, we are still learning and also trying to understand the purposes why ESRI makes huge efforts for Pro. To me, architectures and audiences between Pro and ArcGIS desktop are also targeting differently, at least, so far. So, not surprised if we couldn't seamlessly & interactive use some things among two products.

Yes, you can do with ModelBuilder (MB). The GP tools to be used rely on your SHP with attr, for example, point or polygon features... No matter what, the GP tools for MB are available...

In some cases, users may still want to store LAS datasets in SDE, even though this approach is not common, especially, in research projects. For example, after importing from LAS files, the low-level security of LAS datasets can still be managed via SDE, just like Mosaic Datasets, even though not common. +++++++++++++++++ On LAS datasets imported from LAS files, there are some disadvantages. For example, ArcGIS couldn't do any helps diectly for LAS data files. In other word, the high quality of LAS data files are required, before loading into LAS datasets. Refer to the blog at Noise Removal and Manual Classification in LAS Cloud

It is from Doc: A published web application is based on a web map authored with the map viewer. Any changes the author makes to the web map including its extent, layers, description, and so on, are reflected in the web application. If a map available to everyone in the organization is made private (or deleted), the map no longer appears in the application. ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2)

Just share the thoughts: Was this web app at Online originally published by your Pro? ++++++++++++++++ To test if Pro can be used to update the existing web app hosted at the Portal /Online, I may try the following steps: author and publish a web app within Pro; update this existing content of web map in Pro, when needed; and then restart/ refresh the web app within Pro / Online. Maybe, it shouldn’t be republished/ overwritten… Currently, it looks that web apps can be published via ArcGIS Portal/ Online, WebAppBuilder, or ArcGIS Pro. So far, I don’t see the seamless update of the web app, which is published from above one first, and then can be overwritten by other…

You have no 'direct' way to identify the version of ECW in ArcGIS. However, you can try the indirect way. First of all, ArcGIS DOES support ECW v2 very well, including directly loading into Mosaic Dataset. In other word, if your ECW files are in v2, it should work in ArcGIS 10.x ... Inversely, pretty sure that ArcGIS 10.x does not support ECW v3 at all. Secondly, ECW v1 is the first release (ECW) before 2000, which was mainly for IWS (attachment - ECW v1). ECW v2 is a stable release from ER Mapper 6/ 7, which is competitive to MrSID (attachment - ECW v2). ECW v3 is one of three compressors (ECW v2, v3 and JP2) from ECW JPEG 2000 tool within ERDAS Imagine/ ER Mapper (after ERDAS acquired ER Mapper in 2007), which is mainly optimal for ERDAS Apollo...

With " raster to other format " in ArcGIS, 'convert ECW to TIFF as a batch' works. (I tested 10 ecw files in 10.1 in one job, which works fine). For your case, contact ESRI via remedy for investigation. ++++++++++ To me, ArcGIS has some issues to deal with ECW v1 & v3 and JPEG. However, it works smoothly with ECW v2 from ECW to TIFF or IMG; No direct way from ECW to JPEG in ArcGIS... In fact, if you have no special reasons for JPEG format, advisable to convert to JP2 (larger images) or PNG (small photos) from ECW 'directly or via IMG / TIFF' in ArcGIS.

For ArcGIS to deal with ‘ECW files to others’, the issue that people are facing will depend on ECW version (v1, v2, or v3) and ArcGIS version (10.1.x, or 10.2.x) … Generally, to JPEG, the colormap from ECW RGB is not supported in ArcGIS. So, the workaround is: Convert ECW 2 from TIFF in ArcGIS first, and then to JPEG; Convert ECW to JPEG directly, if ERDAS ER Mapper available in your organization

Philip, Pretty sure that most wouldn’t store massive LiDAR data into SDE, especially, in production. In fact, managing LiDAR is very much similar to any raster imagery and terrain data (DEM), which are usually managed in FGDB via Mosaic Dataset model, even though you can still use enterprise GDB.

I also add one point into this discussion: Pro should offer an option for users to create a blank project without loading Topographic from ArcGIS Online as backdrop and global spatial reference system (WGS 84). For business uses, most projects from Pro will often use local spatial reference system, rather than WGS 84. Right now, after users setup local SR, new map / scene created is still loading Topographic from ArcGIS Online...
